Best backcountry experience we've had to date. The spectacular setting (we're from Colorado, so the bar was set high), amazing sunsets, absolute absence of light pollution and overall feeling of peace and tranquility is hard to duplicate. Add to this already wonderful experience the hosts superior cooking abilities, service influenced by his Swiss upbringing and stories formed by world travel...

This is the real authentic experience in wild Montana! The views are amazing, the food is dazzeling, the nature is huge, it is really worth staying at Altoona for as long as you can. Thanks for having created a secluded nook of nature that can be visited in syle. There is so much potential!

This is probably the most unique place I've ever stayed in Montana. Denison and Andrea have created a magical place in an unforgettable Montana wilderness. I love the feeling of solitude, and the backcountry bonds that bring you and your friends closer as the time slowly ticks by. I could go on and on and tell you what makes Altoona...

Casey Thank you for the write up, and fantastic review. Your evening of serenading us with your amazing musical talents by the bonfire will be remembered for a long time. I look forward to more visits. Denison

I discovered Altoona Ridge Lodge a few years ago through a friend and have made several return trips during the spring, summer, fall, and winter since then. As an avid outdoorsman and a long-time Montana resident I can confidently say that the backcountry skiing, trail riding (dirt bike AND mountain bike!), hospitality and food (when hosted), and restorative solitude is...

Some of the best "real" back-country skiing I've done and with a sauna to finish the day. Location is as wild as it gets for the accessibility. When the sun sets, you really feel like there is no-one else on the planet ... with a beer on the deck and the company of friends, nothing is better!! Thanks for a...

Absolutely breath-taking accommodations... comfortable, clean, and good for the soul. I visited Altoona Ridge Lodge for the first time about 3 years ago and have felt a strong connection to the place ever since. Whether you are looking for a hard core outdoor adventure, or a relaxing retreat away from it all, I definitely recommend ARL.

I spent an unforgettable summer weekend at Altoona. Fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and dirt biking are what kept our crew entertained during the day. Cold beer, delicious food and a beautiful sunset from the deck completed the evenings. It is a comfortable place to stay since it has running water, showers, and a nice kitchen with propane stove/oven and a...
