This refurbished hotel played a significant role in the 1880's in Fort Benton on the Missouri River. Totally updated, it retains the grandeur of its early days from the vintage check-in desk, to the hardwood floors and up the beautiful staircase. We made a special trip to Fort Benton just to stay at the Grand Union.

Only got to stay one night, but what a treat. The Grand Union was nicely renovated (read - not overly done with too many antiques and lacy curtains) to capture the elegance of the hotel back in the day. Rooms and bed were comfortable and inviting (be sure and ask for a room with a view of the river. The...

I stayed here prior to a Missouri River canoe trip and loved it! The hotel is beautifully renovated and keeps the historical aspects well maintained. The restaurant is great, and the stay really gives you a feel for fort benton!

We love staying at this grand, historic hotel, but this time the complimentary "breakfast" was not good. Coffee was empty when we arrived, so I had to track down a lady in the lobby to ask if she worked there. Turns out, she was the person who "works" in the restaurant. Then, for the food--most plates were empty, except for...

This was my second time staying at the Grand Union, this time with my husband and daughter for two nights (first time I was on my own for one night). Once again, the hotel was beautiful and lovingly tended to, the dinners delicious and plentiful. But then came the "complimentary continental breakfast", which did nothing but damage the otherwise stellar...

Thank you for your comments concerning our complimentary breakfast. We do strive to have employees that take pride in taking care of our guests. We have taken measures to ensure that the breakfast table is restocked and tables are cleared. We certainly want your last impression of the Grand Union to be a positive one. We look forward to welcoming...

I wish I could give it more stars. I cannot think of a thing I would change from the time we walked in the door to when we checked out. The front desk lady was very friendly and quite knowledgeable of the history of the property. It is easy to see that she enjoyed her job. Our room was small...

Because I was alone and only staying one night, I booked a single, which was perfect. The bed was comfy and everything was lovely. I had dinner at the hotel and it was excellent; I had the Montana beet salad with goat cheese and vanilla orange crème brulee. The person who checked me in was very nice, informative and shared...

Historic hotel refurbished around 2000. We got a junior suite, large l-shaped room with views of the river and main street. Very quite at night. Not as luxurious as the photos make it look but still very nice. Clearly the best place to stay in Ft. Benton.

We spent 2 nights here while exploring the area. The hotel has been lovingly restored, and while our room wasn't luxurious, the whole place feels like it's from a bygone era of cowboys and land barons. It's worth a stay for the atmosphere alone, but keep in mind the rooms aren't very soundproof. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant...

The whole town of Fort Benton had a feel of being frozen in time -- somewhere between the late 19th century, and the 1950s. But in a good way. Grand Union Hotel was obviously once an important hotel in an important city -- I gather that Montana history really started there. Now it's a sleepy old hotel, in a sleepy...
