A message of thanks to Jason Lee. Jason came to my assistance on Thurs 9/11/14. I had scagged my head on a tree branch it had ripped open a vein. Being a firstaider he was able to cauterize and dress the wound. Thank you Jason...More
We stayed three nights here in a room adjacent to the store. On the plus side, it was clean, water was hot and it was close to the Two Dog Café and hiking areas within the park. On the negative side, the room was very...More
Our room was great-clean and comfortable. Our room had 2 double beds that were very comfortable. Small, clean bathroom. We were disappointed that the St Mary's tour boat had quit running for the season but we hiked instead. It's right on Going-to-the-Sun Road so very...More
Cabins are getting old but was clean and fun to stay in, not a lot to do around there across the street from lake. The Koa in St. Mary has nice laundry if you need to do some laundry , also St.Mary lodge in St.Mary...More
Our room was very clean had a great view. There were comfortable chairs located on the front porch.
A big surprise was how comfortable the beds were, no problems sleeping. Although some of that may be due to the 20 or so miles we hiked...More

The cabin I stayed in was a double cabin...2 rooms per building. There were no chairs outside and the porch was not large enough to accommodate chairs if someone wanted to go inside the cabin. Our view from the front was the dirt road and the back was full of trees. We could hear the river but couldn't see it due to the thickness of the trees!

The speed limit on the Sun road is low. It depends on how much you are familiar with driving on mountain roads and your comfort level. I'd say it's about the same as driving to Mariposa at Yosemite and a little better than the road to Hurricane ridge. The road is wide enough for a sedan IMP. The area close to the rising sun goes around the cliff at st MARY lake. Try look at google map/earth to see for yourself. You can always take the shuttle or join the red bus tour, especially the secret valley tour to two Medicine it is quite nice and only takes half a day. The road to many glacier is fine and has no major drop offs. If your goal is to hike at many glacier, just remember it is about 40 min away. If you'd want to visit lake McDonald valley, it is quite a drive away and you may want to find a place over west glacier.
