I'm so happy that we chose to stay here for the longest leg of our trip. The room was awesome. Super spacious and comfortable, especially being in one of the corner rooms since that meant we got two walls with windows. The bathroom was small...More
Since a lot of the reviews talk about wifi, I want to let you know that Verizon has decent service in this area. I'm posting this right now sitting on a overlook of the lake.

Inside Glacier National Park. Very close to St. Mary and surrounded by Mountains on all the sides. There is a creek which flows nearby.
The staff at reception was friendly similar to other national parks.
And the Cabin we had was amazing. It was cozy,...More
Husband and I stayed in Room 20 for 4 days, 3 nights, over the July 4th holiday. What a great place to stay! The place was recently renovated in 2016, and our room was just perfect. Very comfortable bed, desk with 3 drawers and chair,...More
We stayed here and in Swiftcurrent during the same trip because we couldn't get reservations for all our nights in one place. What a difference between the two places. Where the Swiftcurrent staff was friendly and helpful and gracious, the Rising Sun staff was officious...More

The cabin I stayed in was a double cabin...2 rooms per building. There were no chairs outside and the porch was not large enough to accommodate chairs if someone wanted to go inside the cabin. Our view from the front was the dirt road and the back was full of trees. We could hear the river but couldn't see it due to the thickness of the trees!

The speed limit on the Sun road is low. It depends on how much you are familiar with driving on mountain roads and your comfort level. I'd say it's about the same as driving to Mariposa at Yosemite and a little better than the road to Hurricane ridge. The road is wide enough for a sedan IMP. The area close to the rising sun goes around the cliff at st MARY lake. Try look at google map/earth to see for yourself. You can always take the shuttle or join the red bus tour, especially the secret valley tour to two Medicine it is quite nice and only takes half a day. The road to many glacier is fine and has no major drop offs. If your goal is to hike at many glacier, just remember it is about 40 min away. If you'd want to visit lake McDonald valley, it is quite a drive away and you may want to find a place over west glacier.
