We found the staff very friendly, and accommodating, in particular, Kenny was a very helpful and friendly. If we ever find our way back to this fairly remote little community we would Stay here again.

There was a lot of dust everywhere in the room!!! It seemed that nobody has dusted the furnitures...in particular the night tables... The wood head of the bed was terribly dusty: I have cleaned it by myself. The pillows where too high to be comfortable. Bathroom quite clean except spots of toothpaste on the mirror. Linen-sheets clean. Walls too thin,...

We stayed here two nights on our way through Yellowstone. The first night we slept well, the second night we had people above us and on the side that were quite noisy woke us up several times during the night. The room is nicely furnished, it does not have a microwave, refrigerator or a coffee pot though. We did not...

It's an older building, conveniently located near the NE gates of Yellowstone! You go through Lamar Valley- so expect to see Buffallo. Cooke has maybe 25 buildings in it, it's quaint. The Lodge staff are friendly, rooms large & beds comfortable. No AC, No elevators and no coffee in the rooms. Our room faced the street and it was noisy...

Well me and my husband stopped in for a bite . Apparently we made it just in time our waiter Mark greeted us and kindly offered us a table in the dinning room or the bar so we decided to go with the dinning room. Anyway he promptly lead us to the table. He then let us know that after...

The lodge accommodations were nice. Newer bed and bath fixtures. It was nice to sleep with the windows open and listen to the creek. We ate at the lodge and the food was merely OK. The staff went out of their way to help us when checking out.

We made a reservation for dinner while staying in a cabin nearby. We needn't have bothered. When we arrived the place was nearly empty. Even so the service was erratic; our waitress took the order (for drinks) from both of us and then had to run back to check she had remembered it correctly (one beer and one soda). Another...

The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean. Some things are still outdated, but it seems as if they are making updates as they go. Not a bad choice for a reasonable rate. If you have any mobility issues, be sure to request the 1st floor. Management was able to make adjustments to accomodate us fairly easily. WiFi...

We stayed here during our trip in Yellowstone. We were disappointed there was no hot water in the morning, even though this was the most expensive hotel of our trip. According to the man at the reception, the hotel rooms share a few boilers, which is why there was no warm water left when we took a shower at 7:30am....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cooke City is situated in the Beartooth Absaroka mountains. Accessible via Montana Hwy 212 Beartooth Scenic Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Hwy 296 and Yellowstone National Park. Soda Butte Lodge is located on Main Street in the center of town. Our 32 guest rooms are located on two floors of the motel. We are also, the only full service motel in Cooke City with 3-meal restaurant and sports bar full liquor. The large lobby is a great place to relax, by the fireplace or by the windows to "people watch", play cards, read or visit with friends. We are just 3 1/2 miles from the north east entrance to Yellowstone National Park and the infamous Lamar Valley where "wolf watching" is very popular. The area is ideal for wildlife viewing, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling and many photo-ops. Winter in Cooke City is unlike no other. Extreme snowmobiling, snowboarding and cross country skiing at its' finest. Winter, the lodge, is only accessible through Yellowstone Park (Mammoth) or drive over Chief Joseph to Pilot Creek parking lot and snowmobile in the last 9 miles. Our area is rich in the things money can't buy: history, beauty, wildlife and hospitality. ... more   less
