A lovely detour or a weekend stay! This is a centuries-old castle, atmospheric, full of antiques and paintings. Winding stone stairs and stone slab floors show the footprints of time. It's worthwhile to pay the slight premium for one of the deluxe original rooms. We originally had booked a renovated room but it lacked charm ... And then changed to... More

This trip was our third time at the Chateau, and we hope to return yet again. First it is a perfect centre for hiking in this spectacular area. Second, it is a genuine old Chateau with towers and spiral stone steps, dim-lighting and quirky décor. The rooms are big and furnished with antiques. All the rooms, the big dining room... More

I was part of a group that stayed here for four nights, so cannot comment on pricing of the meals nor of the rooms; for the group it was priced well. We had a variety in our evening meals, though there was probably too much food for those of us accustomed to having our larger meal at noon. Desserts were... More

It was like staying in the village castle, but with modern conveniences and very fair rates. We stayed in the older part of the hotel, and I would recommend this over the new wing. The courtyard was very inviting, with large trees proving shade and a few tables and chairs. We only stayed one night, but had time to wander... More

We basically visited this village because of the amazing Mont Aiguille which serves as the dramatic backdrop to the quiet commune of Chichilianne. This hotel’s set in an old 14th century chateau, complete with spiral stone staircases, dimly lit rooms and spooky SPOOKY paintings. There was an antique cabinet with a full length mirror in front of it and it... More

We chose the Chateau as I wrongly assumed I would be staying in a building steeped in history with a large bedroom furnished in a manner to suit the bygone age of the Chateau, how wrong was I, our room was in the new part of the Chateau, built I would guess in the 1980's , sympathetic design on the... We loved it. We felt like we should have been in medieval dress. A 12c chateau in the middle of nowhere. It was an amazing find. The room was big and newly decorated and we paid an extra 3 euro for twin beds and a bigger room. All clean and tidy, shower was fab. I am sure all rooms would... More

Was here in 1971 and ... the place has changed. All rooms have a shower now, there is a much larger restaurant and prices are low. Still and excellent hiking location and good basic food. We enjoyed a few nice days and appreciated the kindness of the personnel.

What a beautiful setting. The Chateau is at the foot of Mont Aiguille but it is still at 1000m altitude. It is perfectly situated if you want to go on walks and explore the top of the mountains, but there is not a lot to do at all in Chichilianne other than that. There is one bar/ restaurant and I...
