We had a lovely stay with Simone in Richmond. The Barracks were very comfortable with everything we needed. Only a short walk to the Richmond town centre. Perfect place to base yourself to explore Richmond and surrounds.

Spent the night in "The Retreat" and from the time we arrived we felt very welcome and at home. Our hostess Simone went out of her way to make sure we knew all we needed to know about our accommodation and ensure we had all we needed for breakfast even to the point of providing a jug of almond milk... Friendly, helpful host and neat compact overnight accommodation. Just right for our overnight stop in Richmond to prepare us for our day of wandering around the historic village. Very close to the centre of the village and walkable to sights by anyone. Our 88 y.o. granny walked into the centre for a good look around the Sunday markets.

A tastefully decorated little cottage in keeping with the historical value. Very well priced and great amenities. Restaurants very close in location and plenty to do around town. The hostess was very welcoming and lovely.

Great stay Very clean, comfortable, quiet and cosy. Simone was very welcoming and happy to alter the breakfast to accommodate diet. Vegan milk alternative would have made it a perfect stay. Very yhappy to recommend and will stay again when next in Tassie.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Richmond Barracks is centrally located in a quiet, peaceful pocket of the beautiful Georgian town of Richmond. An easy walk to the famous Richmond Bridge and Richmond's main street, filled with excellent dining options, antique stores and Tasmanian craft shops. Relax and enjoy the spacious sun filled gardens that surround the beautiful cottages on our property. The Colonial officers who originally lived at the Barracks certainly did not enjoy the superb comforts you'll find here today. Built in 1830, using local convict bricks, this charming National Trust Registered property is a restful haven for the discerning traveller. Choose between any of these three purpose built accommodations: Lady Esther Cottage: two storey, self contained family accommodation, sleeps four comfortably. The Retreat: bedroom, lounge, kitchenette, bathroom, sleeps two/three comfortably. The Cellar: studio with kitchenette and bathroom sleeps two only. You'll be comfortable and warm with electric blankets and heaters in all bathrooms, and efficient reverse cycle air conditioning/heating in all cottages. Free WiFi is provided throughout the property. A hearty, continental breakfast is available at an additional charge. Off street parking is provided. ... more   less
