This was a very good hotel on our tour- everything we needed, except air conditioning. There was an overhead fan and a portable fan in the room, so it was fairly comfortable. We did appreciate that the room was very clean. What seems to be most memorable is the use of ramps instead of stairs, very handy for our 'senior' tour, and for hauling luggage.
The bathroom looks to have been recently renovated with a new toilet and a full countertop, though had fewer toiletries than most. The beds were very comfortable. The room included a small fridge, bedside clock, a nice desk but a rather small TV - hard to watch from the bed. We liked the extra table and chair, plus the good lighting with both overhead and wall lamps. We noted that this hotel did have an ice machine. The internet connection was very slow.
Nearby there is a Timmie's, a variety store, Foodland and an Irving Station - a great convenience.
The restaurant meals for both breakfast and dinner here were excellent. It would definitely get a higher rating!

The Inn would probably be rated a 3-star, but the people were amazingly friendly in a real sort of way. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was the usual fare, but served "Toutins" - a traditional type of fried bread. Rates for the Inn were very reasonable and location was good to see all the local sites and Lance Aux Meadows two historic sites. On our last morning we had to leave early but were met at the door by a staff from the restaurant to give us some Toutins for the road. She came in early to make them for us ... typical of the friendly staff.

Haven Inn is a well run, immaculately clean hotel. Service in every area was excellent. Food in the restaurant was first rate, we'll portioned and served, reasonably priced. This is not a new building but it is very well furnished, very comfortable. Our room was huge with a Jaccuzi. We enjoyed our stay and would return if in the area.

This was an acceptable basic motel in central St. Anthony. The accomodations were basic and clean but somewhat plain--for example, no fridge or microwave. A good jumping-off spot for local activities. I would stay here again but wouldn't seek it out.

The inn is clean but dated. There is no A/C which probably isn’t usually a problem but there was a very hot spell going on. They did have a fan in the room. Don’t order a burger there unless you like it burned. The staff seemed friendly and directed us where to view icebergs.

My wife and I stayed at the Haven Inn on a recent trip to Newfoundland. The reception was very friendly and the room we had was very clean and comfortable. It was a suite with a jacuzzi and fireplace and king size bed and the price was very reasonable for this kind of accomodation. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable about the area and answered our many questions easily. The food in the restaurant was very good and the wait staff very friendly. Within walking distance ( about 15 minutes) of the boat tour and the Grenfell properties. A small shopping plaza almost next door. (there aren't many on the west coast) with a grocery store and small department type store etc. We will be going back to Newfoundland in 2007 and will definitely be staying there again.

This review purely concerns the restaurant, as we did not stay at the hotel.
The map of the area handed out by many tourist centres has an advert for the Haven Inn restaurant - declaring it 'specialises in seafood'.
Well, if you like frozen, prepackaged seafood it does!
Having sat down in the restaurant, the staff were rushing around but appeared short handed. We eventually ordered, after around 20 minutes. One starter arrived, the other was forgotten, but when challenged, the staff were unapologetic, but did offer they would ask chef to cook it now.
My main course (breaded scallops) was not cooked properly, to the point water ran out of the middle of a scallop when cut open. I asked the waitress whether this was fresh food, and she offered it was fresh out of the packet, as that was how they are delivered, and the water was due to it not being cooked properly from frozen!! She was not in the least bit concerned that the pre-frozen scallop was raw inside, just heated to the point it was defrosted.
Pretty pathetic when the areas industry is fishing.
I will however comment the accompanying salad was the best I had tasted all day!
Generally a very bizarre dining experience, and would not recommend this to anyone.

Excellent hotel and good food. Handy for supermarket and fast food outlets. Requests not to open windows, presumably to keep out mosquitos but the a/c is too noisy to sleep with. Since there were no mozzies I opened the window.

This hotel is a No-Frills Mom & Pop type of establishment. It sits across the street from a "mall," which includes a Tim Hortons, Foodland, a drug store, a Dollar Store, and a few more that were closed at the time of my visit. Also within walking distance is a Jungle Jim's Restaurant and a Chinese Restaurant.
The hotel has two stories and no elevator. Some rooms have been refurbished. Some are larger than others. Our room was on the Second Floor and had two full-size beds, a desk, old-style TV, two fans, a fridge, microwave, and a small closet. There are also very few outlets.
The bathroom has good counterspace, and the shower pressure a bit weak.
While we were there, there was a boil-water order, so the hotel provided water bottles.
Beds were comfortable and the room clean, so for a night or two, it's an okay place to stay.

A very satisfactory room with king bed. Our dinner however was a disappointment. The fish chowder was so loaded with sliced carrots that the fish flavours were overwhelmed. Then, our entree of fish cakes, which should have been named " potato cakes with a tad of cod". Very disappointing. But, dessert of Newfoundland sundae with bake apple and partridge berries was terrific.
