We went to Salema in off-off season and had the Pensione A Mare to ourselves. Benita, the manager, was very helpful in suggesting places to eat and day trips to take. The view from the breakfast room, of the ocean and village, is quite lovely, and the rooms, each with their own patio space and garden views, are well equipped...

Perched on a high hill overlooking the beach, Pension Mare was all we could want, clean and reasonably priced. Bettina's German influenced breakfasts were outstanding. She was also very helpful with recommendations for sites, "go early morning to Sagres" as it is very windy later in the day. She also helped make arrangements for golf at San Antonio course. Parking...

It is not luxurious and need to bring your own shampoo and conditioner, but it is clean, centrally located. Bettina was hospitable and made wonderful breakfasts. Also, they have laundry service at a decent price. I would def stay there again!!!

We stayed 2 nights in September in apartment B. Loved it! Apt B has a private terrace with table and chairs and sun loungers. Easy walk to the beach and town. The town has a really good little supermarket where you can get decent fruit and veg and other meal provisions. Only slight negative on Apt B was the size...

Bettina made us feel very welcome and was a very gracious host! A Mare is in a great location with a beautiful view, clean rooms, and friendly people! We stayed in Room 6 (which had a very comfortable loft bed) and Apartment B (which had a private balcony, a fully functional kitchen and spacious living room). I would definitely recommend...

This is on the road into town but a two minute walk from the center. The outdoor spaces are terrific with comfortable furniture. Our room was small, but cheerful, and it's clear the staff cares about it being pleasant. There are cups, plates, a corkscrew, a tea pot in the room. We had a very small patio with a nice...

I stayed at A Mare for 3 nights with a friend, it was the perfect start of our roadtrip in Portugal. Salema is a nice and calm village, in a perfect position for visiting all the coast from Sagres to Lagos. Our room at A Mare was very clean and spacious with a nice terrace and view. The breakfast was...

We booked our room directly with Bettina, confirming our reservation by phone. She is very personable and easy to deal with, and sent good information for arrival, etc. We arrived by public bus and the pension is directly above, very easy as long as you are okay with the stairs. We stayed in room #3 which was perfectly situated. It...
