manager Bettina was very kind and efficient. great value and view from our terrace on the top. she was able to get her laundry done for a good price, and we were able to find parking, even though that seems like it could be a challenge at times. apartment A is very spacious

Warm welcome, very helpful directions and an amazing accommodation (we booked the large top story apartment). Stunning views, spacious and charming, great for breakfasts on the terrace or wine in the evening. Thank you for providing such a great place! (Book early, it is rare and popular!)

The Mare is perched on a steep cliff overlooking the village. The parking is on the street below and so it is a good idea to pack lighty as it is necessary to carry your bags up the stairs. The rooms are airy, charming, and welcoming as is the hostess Bettina, who prepares a delicious breakfast with fresh bread just...

Beautiful room, great breakfast, nice location. All around a great place to stay. Staff very helpful, speak perfect English. I don't usually notice the shower but this had great power and felt so good! Bed very comfortable. Fridge in room with glasses, corkscrew and a hot water pot. Water cooler in breakfast room to fill water bottles was super handy....

We spent three nights at the A Mare during our recent vacation. I wanted to reserve Apartment B, based on the reviews here, but it was already booked, so we stayed in Apartment A. The apartment is huge (at least for a couple), with a nice bedroom and bathroom, full kitchen and a large living room. Best of all is...

I was traveling solo after 12 days of group traveling. What a nice place to relax. My no. 4 room had a cute little balcony off double doors where I could have coffee before dressing for breakfast. Bettina knows how to please. I had a snazzy hot pot for heating water and packets of yummy instant coffee. My view of...

Generally, tourists who visit Salema as part of their trip to the Algarve are probably here because Rick Steves recommended it... This B&B is ideally located steps from the beach and the few restaurants that are in town. Bettina manages the property so well one would think she was the owner as well. We enjoyed the continental breakfast each morning,...

I wish I had better things to say, but truthfully, it was just average and pretty much what we expected for the price. The room was adequate and did have a nice view. Fresh squeezed orange juice was a treat. I felt that the property could use a little TLC to make it more warm and cozy feeling.

This owner operated small rental place is wonderful with small separate terraces for each room/apartment some with great views. It is steps away from the beach and restaurants. In late April Salema is very quiet but beautiful and this place is an ideal place to stay with a very friendly and helpful host. It has very reasonable prices.

We stayed off season in March and Bettina kept apologising for the weather as it it was raining. She had turned the heating on for us and explained how everything worked. The apartment B was well equipped except for a washing machine. The view was lovely and the terrace gorgous. Unfortunately we were there when it was cool but I...
