My partner and I went to Glencoe, to the Red Lion, with the intention of sleeping there, on our way to Glenn Innes. It was the height of January and temperatures were very high, even in the highlands (where Glencoe is). The pub and hotel were for sale and everything seemed downhill. The owner addressed me and my partner as...

My mother ran up the tavern wanting to book a table for 4. And the man who answered the phone, was very rude to my mother. He said to her "do you have days off"? She answered yes and he replied "well I need a day off too" we only asked if they were open on a certain day and...

We've eaten here before so we knew the food was excellent. Decided to check out the accommodation on a trip out west - atmosphere, food and location all great. Not 5 star but comfortable, clean and quiet and great value for money. Liked it so much we stayed for another night on the way home! Actually the food was incredible....

From the exterior the Red Lion looks a quaint English pub, plonked on the side of the road. Unfortunately it's run down. Dark, cluttered an claustrophobically small. The meals are okay, though well overpriced. The accommodation is in desperate need of an overhaul. Service was surly at best. Disappointing.

Stopped in for lunch today. With the warm fire and delicious food it worked out perfectly. My 3yo enjoyed it so much he finished his entire meal, but just as welcoming for the motorcyclist couple that came in at the same time. Chips were perfectly cooked, the red lion burger was great for me and the garlic aioli matched the...

This quirky little tavern is a must see. The atmosphere is simply wonderful. The Publican and his wife are amazing. Whether it be a counter lunch or a sit down meal in the evening, you will not want to leave. The food is delicious!!

We stayed here as a stop over traveling home from Qld to Syd. I loved it as soon as I walked in the doors, the atmosphere and ambience, the friendly locals, who shared their local knowledge. Of course the accommodation isn't five star but the hospitality is. We ate dinner at the tavern and the food was excellent home cooked...

We were sorely tempted to stay over in one of the rooms in this quaint hotel after enjoying a really good dinner. The ambience of the place makes you long for the times when food was to savour cooked by someone who cared for your appreciation.
