We are based on the outskirts of award winning village of Abbeyshrule, and a short drive to Ballymahon Town. Abbeyview House is a period property which was built in the mid 1800's and was later used as a Garda Barracks but is now a family home on a small working farm of cattle ,sheep, horses and hens . It has been restored to a high level of comfort and contains all modern conveniences but has retained its many original features. We have 3 Bedrooms which include 2 family rooms and 1 double room, accommodating a total of 9 adults. We are within a 2 minute walk to the Royal Canal Greenway and a 5 minute walk to Abbeyshrule Airfield. We also have the beautiful Newcastle Forest on our doorstep. We work with Midland Cycle Hub and you can collect or drop off your hired bicycle at Abbeyview House. We are more than happy to help with any query and if we cannot help we will do our best to send you in the right direction.

Beautifully restored Victorian farmhouse, tasty generous breakfasts, comfortable airy rooms, all the facilities you may need, but what really makes Abbeyview exceptional are the hosts. Susan and Edward are welcoming, helpful, friendly and very easy company. Breakfast is served around a communal dining room table, we had the pleasure of chatting to interesting fellow guests in a very relaxed setting. The B&B is only a short walk from pretty and charming village of Abbeyshrule, Which has access to The Royal Canal Greenway and fine dining at the local, The Rustic Inn. Thank you, Susan and Edward for making us feel so welcome.

One of the nicest B&B I have ever stayed in! The house is absolutely beautiful, very clean and great hosts! My son and I walked the short distance to the local pub for dinner which was delicious. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer but would 💯 visit again beautiful part of Ireland! Thank you we loved it 😍.

Stayed here on NYE 2022 and the hosts were amazing. My flight was delayed which meant I didn’t get in till 9pm they gave me a free bottle of wine to celebrate the NY as the shops had closed by the time I got there. the full Irish breakfast was amazing and bed was so comfortable. Hosts made it feel like a home highly recommend

Lovely to look out the window at the nice garden and all the children playing and screaming, great atmosphere, I mean who wants peace and quiet anyway? After that, the great atmosphere continued- until about 1 AM with a party downstairs.. Excellent stuff, mind you it may not suit some people! It was real nice of one of the women from the party to drop into our bedroom at midnight just to say hello!! Well, didn't really matter as we were not asleep anyway!! My breakfast next morning was on it's own holiday- in Greece! juice was nice with the vintage porridge but the strawberries could have done with a haircut, but at least there was just one hair. Overall certainly different from what we're used to and quite an experience but I think we will stick to hotels from now on!

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this charming family run Abbeyview House B&B. We were given a lovely spacious, and warm cosy family room. The beds were really comfy and with no road noise, we both slept through a very heavy and windy all night downpour, to bright sunshine and a delicious and filling breakfast with the most scrumptious golden scrambled eggs, from the hosts own free range Hens. Possibly the best I've ever tasted. We are planing to revist Abbeyview House in the the future.

After booking over the phone and being initially accepted, then rejected on the day with an excuse of some plumbing issue in the house (and booked in another place 10km further), and then again, after explaining that I was counting on staying there because we needed to stop in Abbeyshrule for the night, finally the owner decided to accept us in her B&B, saying that the plumber would sort out the problem straight away. I don't know why she did that, probably she was presuming that we were not showing up and maybe some other people were enquiring about staying there. I still think anyway that there were no maintenance issues, because the place was full of other guests on that evening; at the end, all of this situation has created some unnecessary stress on us. And maybe, for the piece of mind of the owner and our one, it would have been better to book this place through the booking website. At the arrival the lady warned me about her children being noisy, and unfortunately it was true, screaming and shouting in the evening and early morning. Breakfast ok, despite not a big variety of choices and very little alternative hot breakfast for vegetarians. The breakfast room was very unwelcoming, with one big table in the middle, possibly to be shared with other guests if eating at the same time; and also the dubious taste in decorating the walls with animal blood sport paintings, a real turn off for enjoying the food and also not matching with the bright and tasteful modernisation of this very nice period house. Our room was nice and the place very clean. In general, as a overall experience, I did not feel very welcomed in this accommodation, and that was a pity because , as I said, it was a very nice house

Hi As I advised on your arrival , our plumber rescheduled his day to successfully correct the issue, but had we have known that you had such extensive plumbing or telepathic skills we would have asked you directly what the problem and solution was. It is unfortunate that the following variety of breakfast did not meet your standards, freshly cooked full Irish Breakfast, fried , poached or scrambled free range eggs, (we asked the hens nicely and agreed a barter system with them) freshly prepared fruit platter with yogurt, porridge (with a gluten free option), pancakes, fresh breads (also with gluten free option) and also dairy free milks available on request, cereals, and our local honey. Unfortunately, you pay for what you get. To meet Covid restrictions and to keep everyone safe , each guest breakfast sitting was allocated for one hour , which allowed guests to enjoy their breakfast and for staff to sanitize the room between each sitting. Strangely most guests enjoy meeting others and engaging in conversation while in the dining room. In future we will be sure to consider all possible guests interior design requirements for our country home before we redecorate. We are glad you liked our house, we love it....

Stayed here on a cycling holiday, very closed proximity to the Greenway and bike storage facilities were excellent. Bedroom and facilities had everything needed, breakfast set us up for our days cycling. Susan was a fantastic host and most helpful.

My mum and I stayed in Abbeyview last night and had the most wonderful experience. The house and garden are fabulous. The owners were fantastically accommodating in term of our arriving and leaving times and had a shed with a socket to charge a bike. The house itself is within walking distance of the village where you can get food in the Rustic Inn. A brilliantly restored house which is a credit to the owners. If I'm in abbeyshrule again I'll certainly stay here.
