Cooking classes yes. Winery tour no. Wine is not their thing but there are many wineries nearby, from 5 minutes by car to 45minutes. Go into Montalcino try some wines you like and then find the winery. Cantina di Ricci in Montepulciano is interesting. I believe you should rent a car if you are going to visit wine country. You can either pick it up in Rome and drive or take a train to Florence and then get a car there. If you are going to stay in Florence for a couple of days I would pick it up there once you are done with Florence. Do not have a car while in Florence. We had a great experience @ Velona and we traveled all over Tuscany with it as our base.
