The hotel itself is beautiful. We stayed one night and probably wouldn't stay again. Plumbing is very loud. Hard to regulate the heat and very thin walls. The room was nice. Nothing special. The staff was not very friendly at all. The only person that stood out was the young girl in the coffee shop Easter morning. The front desk...

We first want to thank you for spending some time with us. Our dedicated engineering staff work hard every day to keep this 140-year old building in good working conditions. Unfortunately some things are harder to fix than others. We have addressed the issue with the team member mentioned in this review. We remain focused on the importance of customer...

It's been many years since we've stayed at the St. James and I don't have a good excuse for that. The rooms are spacious, there's impeccable attention to detail, everyone is friendly and professional and it's just utterly charming.

Staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. Our room was beautifully decorated with period style furniture, fixtures and wall paper. Beds were comfortable, though sheets were polyester microfiber: I much prefer 100% cotton. We stayed in a room in the original part of the hotel. The hotel has been added onto since the original hotel was built. Half the rooms are...

We always enjoy our stay at the St James. The hotel has a grand charm and character. The staff are attentive to our needs. Little things like an afternoon room refresh--it was so nice after a morning and afternoon on the town to return to the room with classical music on the radio and two chocolates on the bed. A...

This hotel dates back to the 1800's but has been well maintained and wonderfully updated. Rooms are spacious. Some have views of the Mississippi. The library and other public areas are very inviting. There are shops in the hotel plus 3 restaurants. In the summer there is outdoor dining overlooking the River. The staff is wonderful.

We travel through Red Wing multiple times per year yet have never stayed at the St. James. We have stayed at a few B&B’s but the St. James will be our “go to” hotel in Red Wing from now on! My husband purchased a package deal for my Christmas present and we had a wonderful time (I'm hoping I get...

My husband and I have been to Red Wing several times. We have stayed at a B&B (a nice experience), several motels/inns, and the St James. The St James is our lodging of choice. The location is unbeatable.. right by the river and at the heart of downtown amidst the shops and restaurants. It is a historic hotel that truly...

A Board of Directors I belong to had their annual retreat at the St. James. We stayed 2 nights and the hotel provided all the meals, either at one of their restaurants or as a private buffet. Because it’s on the National Registry of Historic Places, my wife came along. Our room was nicely appointed with period furniture and the...

Beautiful, old but clean room with dorm frig, nice armoire, comfy bed, pillows and furniture. Loved the flowered wall paper, white painted woodwork and louvered wood shudders on the windows. Very close to the river, one block from Oliver's Wine Bar and 2 block from the Sheldon Theatre. Price was reasonable, staff was courteous and we enjoyed a late night...
