First time at this hotel. Free parking attached to hotel. Check in was easy, and the room was spacious. King bed with a whirlpool tub was booked. What we got was a big room with a king bed and a whirlpool tub for 4 people!! The bathroom was very large, as large as some hotel rooms I have stayed in....

A first the hotel seems nice, a good lobby, some nice shops, a very historical building, and so on, but after staying here for 4 days, I've realized the room cleaning is horrible. The first day we were gone, no one cleaned our room at all, the beds weren't made, no one cleaned the bathroom, and no one vacuumed, we...

This bed is more comfortable than mine at home! More than that the staff is friendly and helpful during check-in and Jimmy's Pub on the 5th floor is a great place to grab a Boddington's beer and fish and chips. I also very much appreciated the ample parking. Would come back again.

Hello Rachael, So glad to hear you enjoyed the room and were able to make it up to the Jimmy. Excellent choice on the Boddington to complement your meal. Do stop back when you have the chance to explore more of Red Wing’s local charm and the St. James Hotel shops and restaurants. Thanks, Jackie

This place is full of history. They even have a walking guide just for the hotel. Be sure to take it all in. Not too many jewels like this still thriving in smaller cities like this. I was in the G.W. Hill room (302). Very large room, basically a corner suite. windows facing the river and the little courtyard.

This hotel is a classic in style and architecture. New and old blended together. Big rooms with high ceilings. Make sure to take the main stairs. The food was excellent as well as the service. The hotel is near hiking, biking trails and the waterfront near by. Great week night rates too.

Dear Joseph, I am pleased to see you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the unique architecture of the hotel. The construction of the St. James commenced in the spring of 1874: architect E.P. Bassford was responsible for the design and built a classic four-story Italianate structure, and in 1977 the building was put on the National Trust for Historic Preservation....

This remnant of the Victorian Age is one of the very few of its genre that has survived and remains authentic. When it was built in 1875 it was the grand dame of high luxury Mississippi River hotels. It still may be. It is beautifully decorated throughout and may be the best example of true Americana 19th century hostelries. Its...

Thank you Lisa for this kind review. We work hard every day to make our guests' stays memorable and it seems we succeeded. The majority of restaurants are closed on Sunday indeed, this is why we decided to open the Port, I am glad you enjoyed it. We hope to see you again in Red Wing.

Nice old historic hotel along the Mississippi River in Red Wing, Minnesota. Great location, more to see and do in Red Wing than we expected. Basement bar was fun, the bartender was very knowledgeable. Would stay here again!

I am so glad you enjoyed Red Wing. If you like to have fun, you should try to come back during River City Days in August. It takes place the first weekend in August at Bay Point Park along the River. There's food, music, games. A fun time for everyone. We hope to see you again. Thank you!

The main street is under construction so difficult to walk around town. The hotel is nice, but overpriced. We got upgraded to a junior suite, which was nice. Front desk staff was friendly. Very nice amenities in hotel-best part for me! Not a lot to do in Red Wing, but I would get to the brewery in town-excellent beer choices...

Thank you for your comments, and your patience during Red Wing's road construction. Although the downtown area requires a few more minutes of navigation, Red Wing is ripe with activities. Hiking, biking, rock climbing, boating, shopping, wine tasting, historical walking tours, art galleries, and more are some of the most popular things visitors like to enjoy. We'd be happy to...
