I visited Itasca State Park and had brunch at Douglas Lodge with my family. The buffet had a nice selection and the price was very reasonable. On the way into the park there was sadly quite a bit of damage caused by a recent storm that took down many of the Norway and White pines that were along the road...

An interesting dinner in historic Douglas Lodge in one of Minnesota's premier state parks. As both my son in law and I had frequented some to drawer bbqs around the country we were unsure what to expect from their smoked brisket, but what treat! Three thick slabs of melt in your mouth, absolutely delicious smoky brisket. Wine list limited to...

This is a small room, with 2 single beds. There is a nice bathroom with tub, but no shower. Most charming feature here is the screened porch, offer views of communal firepit, and beyond that, glimpses of the lake. (Going to bed, and also early mornng, you hear sweet loon calls if you leave screens open.) There are no cooking...

My husband and I went on a canoeing trip on Lake Itasca and were looking for a non-camping lodging option close by. We booked our room 3 months in advance and were glad we did - there are only 12 rooms available. The service at the front desk was fantastic. The staff were super accommodating, getting us extra pillows, ice,...

Walked the short trail for the fire tower lookout and afterward drove over to Douglas lodge for lunch. We were seated right away and got the last table that had a window view outside (close to the stairs that go down to the lake). We usually have walleye fish sometime when we visit MN, so we had the walleye sandwich....

Loved our room at Douglas Lodge. In 3 days, we were never inconvenienced by having to share bathrooms with other guests. We had 3 meals at the restaurant and we enjoyed every bite. Kudos to the chef who came up with chicken wildrice tettrazini! Our service was great and the scenery was spectacular. Don't change a thing! We'll be back.

We stayed in the Douglas Lodge Suites, close to the actual Douglas Lodge. We had one of 1 bedroom suites. The unit was very clean, fully stocked, and was certainly as advertised. It was beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. The screened in porch was a real plus, as we could sit there, enjoy our meals, or just relax, without the...

We stayed at one of the suites near the Douglas lodge. It had a kitchen, bedroom, private bathroom, and screened porch. One of the best parts of the trip was sitting on the porch as the sun was setting listening to the loon calls with the smell of camp fires in the air. What a great time! We visited the...

My family of four and my parents went to Douglas Lodge only for lunch, so that is strictly upon what I base this review. The lodge has a nice dining area with large windows. A trail starts/ends near the lodge, so you can see many visitors walk by (which can be quite entertaining). I didn't expect much out of my...

It has the charm of an old lodge where you feel you can relax after a taxing day of hiking or biking. Food is average but ample. Plenty of history inside and spacious. It is closed in the winter so check out the availability well in advance. It is a popular park in Minnesota even for the locals.
