This was our staycation, staying for 4 nights - not a good idea. We had Room 6, it was very clean on arrival, nice, and large with a large bathroom, all a bit dated but most things worked. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of pillows. One wardrobe door was difficult to open and one of the side lights cord was too short to plug in so was more of an ornament. The shower was nice, as long as nobody else was using a shower or flushing a toilet then all water disappeared. The room was not serviced routinely on our stay, which was an issue for us, if you did not say, "please clean my room" they didn't. The full English breakfast was nice but there was no other choice given, fruit, yogurt, pasties etc. The waitress at breakfast was nice and friendly. We didn't eat there in the evening though they did food, however, the smell from the kitchens rose up the stairs to the bedrooms, not very pleasant. It seams to be a very local pub and apart from Paul the owner we didn't feel welcome by the staff, so much so we left a day early, Paul agreeing we were unhappy there and got a refund for the day we left. I would say a one night stay would be the most, aware of the limitations and be aware that it is a good 1/2 hr steep walk to Hebden Bridge town center on a busy road that has areas of no pavement.…
We stayed overnight while visiting friends. Warm welcome, well kept beer and good food. The rooms are impeccably clean (nothing fancy - homely in a good way) and we had a great night’s sleep. Easy to walk down to Hebden Bridge, or take the bus (limited service) or call the local cab company. Much better choice than some we have used in Hebden itself and much more sensibly priced.
Having a cheeky weekend away in the caravan at hebden bridge and happened upon this pub. A great atmosphere, really friendly staff, dog friendly (encouraged) even had a little treat for the dog. Just a really nice pub, with a great pint.
Stayed here for a might whilst visiting friends nearby and travelling back to Northern Ireland. The family room was big enough with ensuite bathroom. We have a 6 month old baby and unfortunately there wasnt a cot available, but the owner was very helpful in trying to sort something out. We had a baby pod which we were able to put on the bed against the wall, so the could not roll out. We had to leave really early so missed breakfast, but they were so nice to do us a packed lunch each with good sandwiches. A really nice place.
Five of us had Sunday lunch here last weekend, and it was absolutely superb. We had the turkey and the beef. The choice of vegetables was extensive, the portions were generous, and it was excellent value (£10.95). We also had friendly and attentive service. Would definitely return
