Hotel's Favourite
Just spent 2 lovely nights at Al Husn. The pool and beach areas offered a beautiful place to sunbath, swim, or SUP board and kayak. Afternoon tea was delicious and even better was the cocktail hour with live music. All the staff here makes you feel like royalty. Sanu, the mixologist, was especially helpful in making the right drink for us...some of the best I ever had. Thank you again Al Husn for another wonderful stay!

We stayed here for two nights in May half term and it was the most incredible hotel we have ever stayed in. From the moment I booked to stay the hotel emailed to see if they could help us with anything and noted my gluten free request. When we arrived, our car was parked for us and the 5* hotel experience started. Our room was incredible, with beautiful views and the mini bar was stocked daily with beer and fizzy drinks (refilled daily for free). The swimming pool was beautiful and the lifeguard was on hand to put towels on your sun bed and bring a cooler box to keep your drinks cold round the pool. Waiter service round the pool made sure the cocktails kept flowing and you didn’t have to move off your sun bed (something I appreciated a lot!!) I also really enjoyed the hotel being adult only! It was very quiet and peaceful round the pool and you could really relax. The afternoon tea is included in your stay and the food was delicious with a lovely view. The canapés and drinks reception every evening was also included in your stay and the wine was lovely as were the snacks. A great way to start the evening. We ate the first night in the main restaurant out on the terrace. This was an experience I will never forget. The waiting staff could not do enough for you and the food was amazing. The chef came out to chat during the evening which I have never seen before and it was nice to talk about the food. I am gluten free and everything was offered gluten free and I had a range of food to choose from and dessert!!!! The second night we ate at a Thai restaurant at the sister hotel next door and again the food was delicious. Our hotel helped reserve and table and explained about my allergies and so when we arrived this made ordering food very easy. Breakfast was another meal highlight, with freshly made gluten free pancakes! We also went on a boat trip during our staff to find dolphins and snorkel. This was a great experience and we snorkelled with lots of turtles. This hotel was absolutely incredible…it deserves 5* plus more! Every member of staff here are a credit to the hotel. They were so kind, helpful and worked tirelessly to ensure the best holiday. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable.

I cannot fault this hotel or the stay here. The hotel itself is so beautiful and pristine. Beautiful location and views. It’s so authenticity Arabic. This is now one of my favourite hotels I’ve ever stayed in. You will not be disappointed staying here. The room was huge with a balcony over looking the pool and sea which was amazing. It was cleaned twice a day and had complimentary minibar including beers and snacks replenished every day which is a huge bonus. Huge bathroom, bath and shower. Complimentary afternoon tea was a really nice way to break up the lazy days of laying by the pool. Teas, coffees and a selection of snacks everyday including cream tea scones. 6-7pm was complimentary sundowner alcoholic drinks which again was really nice and something to look forward too every evening. The food in all the restaurants was amazing. So much to choose from the buffet Tannor restaurant and the menu at the Saltannah restaurant was divine. The chef come out to our table multiple times to explain the dishes and see how we enjoyed them. Compliments to you and your kitchen team Giovanni. The thing that really makes this hotel and stay are the staff. I cannot speak highly of them. Every single one of them we’re amazing. So attentive so genuinely interested in yourself and your stay. It all felt so personal. They all knew your name and greeted you as such every time. I’m going to name a few as I feel you need Recognition. •Varun who works in the restaurant. •Alain who works in the restaurant. •Bradley who works in the restaurant •Dixon the house keeping guy. Every hotel needs a Dixon. •Rami, Giovanni, Sandro. The managers. •Muhammed our snorkelling guide • Saeed worked on the Al Husn beach life guard. Every single one of these guys and everyone we didn’t get to mention was absolutely amazing. Each individual personally I can’t thank enough. All of the staff were perfect couldn’t fault them. All seemed to be happy and pleased to be there and all genuine. Thank you so much. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing luxurious stay!

Just returned home from our trip to Oman. We can't praise shangri la al husn enough for their hospitality. It is this that sets it apart from other 5* hotels. Everything was perfect, relaxing and all we would want from a holiday. The staff are intuitive, nothing was ever too much trouble. Too many names to mention all but special thanks to everyone for making our stay with you so special. Thank you.

This is our first time staying with Shangri La and our first time in Oman. My husband and myself have both worked many years in the hotel industry and with several luxury brands in Dubai. The pre arrival experience was amazing. 3 days prior to our stay the Guest Relation team called me to verify my booking and confirmed with me my preferences. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the Valet team and escorted for check in to the reception. We were asked to be seated and a smooth check in was done with Omani hospitality offering coffee and dates. The lady who did our check-in (I think her name was Stephanie) was very engaging and attentive. She escorted us to the room and a nice set up was done for our Honeymoon with a personalized card from the guest relation team. This was beyond our expectations and made us feel really special. Shortly after our check-in we received messages from the guest relation team including Stefanie inquiring about our stay and satisfaction. This was the first time for us experiencing this type of service as even in Dubai in luxury hotels you will not find this. The team (Stephanie, Lanie, Michael) sending us updates and always checking on us. Everyone we met so far in the resort is smiling and very hospitable including the beach staff and team around the resort looking after the cleanliness. The afternoon tea is great and offering the afternoon tea in a box instead on a tray is very unique and a much better experience. The team is attentive and explained each item inside the box. The breakfast options have a wide variety and hot items can be ordered a la carte. We have tried out the beach and lazy river at the other Shangri La and again were happy with the service there. The room is spacious and the Housekeeping team is friendly and attentive to details. Having the minibar with selective drinks included in your stay is again an added value. Overall we are very happy with our choice of hotel and will book again the future with Shangri La. The team shows a lot of attention to detail and we will recommend the hotel to our friends in Dubai.

As we approached the Shangri-La Al Husn resort we knew that it was going to exceed our expectations and epitomise everything you would expect from a 5 star luxury hotel. Our luggage was swiftly unloaded and within minutes we were enjoying a traditional Omani welcome in reception while the very efficient Ria organised our check in. The hotel is located just 45 minutes from Muscat airport. Set on it's own private beach the Al Husn is set between the Gulf of Oman and a spectacular mountain backdrop. We had chosen an overnight flight so as not to waste a day travelling....far better to spend the day dozing under a parasol by the pool rather than taking an early morning flight out of Heathrow. Our accommodation was beautifully appointed with luxury bed linens, L'Occitane toiletries, Nespresso coffee machine, binoculars and a complimentary fully stocked mini bar which was replenished daily. The spacious balcony gave us wonderful uninterrupted views of the Gulf of Oman and the 'private' beach (private because it is inaccessible unless by sea!). The Shangri La resort encompasses the Al Husn resort and spa (adult only) and the Al Bandar hotel which caters for families with children. As a guest of the Al Husn we had full access to the facilities at the Al Bandar (but not vice versa). Breakfast was buffet style held in the Sultanah restaurant and was a fabulous array of fruits. smoothies, cheese and cold meats together with bread, rolls and pastries. There was also a small a la carte menu which was more than adequate. Lunch could be taken at either the beach or pool snack bars and always consisted of a generous serving which we found was enough to share between the two of us. We opted to purchase the half board option prior to our stay but as our visit was in low season ( high temperatures) Sultanah was the only restaurant open on site for an evening meal. Alternative dining options within the full hotel complex were a nice fish restaurant (soon to be replaced by a Japanese restaurant) and an Asian style restaurant. Both these options allowed us to transfer our half board credit against some of the bill. The infinity pool was stunning and the pool area was immaculately maintained and had a lifeguard on duty at all times. There were plenty of sun loungers and parasols which the attendants were more than happy to reposition for you. Cool boxes with water, juice and ice were delivered to the sunbeds and replenished frequently and we enjoyed both ice cream and fruit kebabs while lazing by the pool. There was even a pool attendant who cleaned your spectacles and was happy to receive a small tip for the service! The beach was also well maintained with the sand being raked early each morning. Again there was a lifeguard on duty and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas and of course cool boxes were provided. And if you felt lazy after a day in the sun there was always a golf buggy to transport you back to the hotel! Every afternoon the Al Husn served afternoon tea and every evening pre-dinner drinks and canapes were served. The drinks, all complimentary, all flowed generously while a musical duo played. With the high price of wine in the restaurant it is well to enjoy this start to the evening. My birthday cake and card from the team at Sultanah was a wonderful surprise and clearly orchestrated by Dev and Nishant. The cake was delicious..decadent in the extreme and by reorganising our fridge it lasted us several days! A word or warning! Pick the time of your visit carefully. We visited at the end of May due to a special birthday in the diary and found that some of the facilities were not available. We had read much about the weekly seafood buffet BBQs which were not held and there was a shortage of dining venues to chose from. Much of this may have been due to the effects of the COVID epidemic but Oman and in particular the resort seem to be doing much to rebuild tourism, it just takes time. In contrast to this small gripe we would like to say special thanks to the staff we met. They were outstanding for both their level of service and friendliness. We would particularly like to say a very warm thank you (and sincere apologies for the delay in writing this review due to family commitments) to Dev the restaurant manager (always calm and thinks out of the box!), Bradley (quietly efficient and attentive) and Nishant ( eyes like a hawk for attention to detail - 'cucumber'!!) and everybody else who made our holiday so special. Thank you for our wonderful farewell gifts From pillow to pool and all points in between the level of service was superb . We took home some very happy and emotional memories. We will be back again, but maybe not in May next time!!

We stayed 10 nights at the Shangri-La Al Husn (adults only) resort and spa in Muscat, Oman. It was low season. There’s definitely pros and cons to this. It was quiet, the hotel was really peaceful with not many guests around. We often had the pool to ourselves. Price – half what it is in high season, making it affordable for us to go. Cons – summer in Oman it quite something! Someone told me that you haven’t really experienced heat until you’ve felt Gulf heat – up to 50 degrees and 80% humidity in Muscat, less humid in Nizwa and a balmy 31 in Green Mountains (the “cold” bit). The hotel was also undergoing a soft reopening post-covid with only the adult (Al Husn) and moderately priced bit open so some restaurants and facilities were still closed (mostly anything for kids so didn’t affect us as this was our last get away before our first baby arrives). Location The hotel is in a bay carved out from the mountains with its own private beaches. It is stunning. I have never experienced scenery like it – it is a geologists dream. It is a fair distance from town though, with taxis between $30-$50 dollars return. The hotel does run a shuttle service too. Hotel The site and hotel are spectacular. The lobby is beautiful and frankincense fragranced. The infinity pool area is just perfect and the views are incredible. We had a suite which was great – very comfy superking bed, sofa area, balcony and huge bathroom/ dressing area. Couldn’t fault this. Service The service is really the jewel here. It was attentive without being invasive and so thoughtful. One example is that we were going on a boat trip and knowing the sea was rough that day and I’m 6 months pregnant, they offered to reschedule it for 48 hours when they had checked with the captain it would be calmer. Everyone was friendly, polite and just so helpful. Staff in reception, the spa, the pool and the buffet breakfast were all absolutely imppecable in the service they provided and the way they look after guests. Facilities Buffet breakfast was included, along with daily high tea and canapes. This was all great. There are 2 restaurants on site – they are both in my mind prohibitively expensive for what they are. The best onsite food was at the Asian inspired restaurant Chow Mee – this was really great but again a little over priced. I did feel slightly priced gouged by this situation. Spa There are two spas – these were exceptional. Beautiful, great staff, world class treatments. I had an elemis facial, a foot massage and a momma-to-be massage but husband had the Golden Sands massage twice it was so good! Website This is the real let down. I like to plan holidays ahead. The website really doesn’t show what is available or included very well. Just a site map would have been useful. Of course, staff are on hand to help but I would have liked more info eg. Spa treatments menu online, more info about the restaurants, any tours ( we booked these separately but apparently can be done through the hotel). Overall though, the Shangri-La really outdid expectations. Oman is a stunningly beautiful country and I hope we can visit again and explore some more.
