Artistic, charming, clean, comfortable and quiet rustic treehouse set in the woods in lovely French countryside. Something special, a place with real character and charm, as far removed from the average hotel room as you can get. Gorgeous breakfast delivered. The other two tree-houses on the farm look great too, but La Peyrade was just perfect for a get-away.
We only stayed one night, but it was magical. Our boys (9 and 11) had the time of their lives! We stayed in the Margo Cabin/Treehouse which comes equipped with a piano and a bucket. Yep, a bucket. The kids spent HOURS playing with a bucket that can be lifted from the ground up to the treehouse via a pulley system. It was so simple, but they had a blast! (Keep in mind these kids have been to Disneyland many times, have visited the Taj Mahal, know the Eiffel Tower quite well and have seen countless of other impressive monuments). I'm sure our night in the Treehouse will be one of their more memorable vacations... The kids didn't ask once to play a video game or watch a movie. In fact, they really enjoyed not having electricity. They loved the candles (sorry about the waxy mess, Fabienne and Vincent) and they performed a fantastic "concert" for us after dinner on the piano. It was the first time they had access to a piano and didn't have to be quiet. They were able to make their "music" without worrying about disturbing anyone. Our neighbors were 1/4 mile away, so we had lots of room and privacy. Fabienne and Vincent are the perfect hosts. They were friendly, helpful and very punctual. Dinner and breakfast were delivered directly to our treehouse and everything was hot and tasty. We enjoyed their hospitality and are looking forward to seeing them again. The wood-burning stove kept us cozy warm during out trip (mid- November) and we were very comfortable. The cabin/treehouse comes equipped with dishes, silverware and linens. I can't finish without mentionning the "outhouses". Be aware that the cabin/treehouse does not come with running water. However, it made our weekend more authentic and rustic. I was a little hesitant about the bathroom situation, but quite frankly, it was quite clean and hygenic. Trust me on this -- I'm pretty particular about these things and it didn't bother me at all. In the cabin/treehouse they have a reservoir with water for washing your hands and brushing your teeth. And you simply go up to the farmhouse when you want to take a shower. It's no different than camping! I can't wait to go back for our next visit! :)…
