Perhaps one of my most memorable stays ever! I was here for a few days with my Dad to experience D-Day remembrance in Normandy. Manoir de la Rivière is a 16th-century farmhouse meticulously renovated in the most lovely country setting. Nature surrounds you, and an air of relaxation is constant. The grounds are impeccable, and a couple of cute cats... More

We live in France for 6 months of the year and stopped here en route home to Scotland for the winter. Our stay was overwhelmingly positive and we can honestly say we have never experienced such excellent customer service, generous hospitality and catering of such quality and flair. We travelled with our Border Terrier Maggie who was warmly welcomed, spoiled... More

We stayed here one night; I could have stayed forever. The place is amazing, gorgeous and inspiring. The host attends you in a way that you do not expect. It is very natural and provides you with something special that you did not even know until he suggests it. The scenery decor and the feel if the place is ideal... More

Iain and maureen were perfect hosts, (thank you!) I was impressed with the professional, friendly, and modern approach in such a rustic and authentic setting. A moment of pure relaxation in such a lovely surrounding. I will make an effort to stop by again soon!

Some 10 years ago, we found the Manoir de la Riviere and have returned every year since, as part of our French holiday, and would not consider going anywhere else. All rooms are furnished with antiques and the beds are extremely comfortable. Maureen and Iain immediately make you feel at home, and nothing has ever been too much trouble. The... More

We have been to the Manoir several times and enjoyed the company of Maureen and Iain and pets! We consider the Manoir as our second home - it's as relaxing as our own, we can come and go as we please BUT we get great company, fabulous food and, best of all, nothing for us to do, so in fact... Loved our stay, the food, atmosphere and service. I have traveled the world (20 countries) and this experience was towards the top! The inn is from 1580. It is so picturesque and has so much character. A warm feeling came over me upon entering. We stayed for only 2 nights, which was too short. The meals were all delicious. Iain... More

The Manoir will not disappoint! This is a beautiful place to stay in the Normandy area and an amazing drive from Omaha Beach! If you can get there in time for Iain to cook you dinner, you are in for a real treat. He is an exceptional host! Wish we could have stayed another night.

Perfect base from which to explore Normandy. It's run by the most lovely people and the setting is really something beautiful. After breakfast we can go all day and that's good because there are so many sites you can see. D-day beaches, Mt. Saint Michel, Caen, Bayeux. My suggestion would be to try it for yourself.

I still remember the best scrambled eggs I have ever eaten, every time I make mine at home! And bed linen that was sublime, and a welcome that was just perfect...friendly, helpful but not too intrusive. In fact my short stay (2 or 3 nights) has remained in my thoughts, as being one of my most unexpected treats.
