Expected air con -in reality a ceiling fan that goes off when you turn the lights off! Clean but in need of total redecorating and bring up to 21st century. My room smelt of cigarettesome, the shower leaks and not staying for breakfast as too expensive.
We stayed here as 2 married couples and the hotel and particularly the bedrooms were fairly basic. The bathrooms could do with renovating and some essential items such as bath plugs were only available on request. The owner and his wife were friendly and welcoming.
We booked this hotel for an overnight stay and thought out of politeness we should just mention that our flight into Beziers was due to arrive at 20.30. It's only a short distance from the airport to the hotel but we were concerned that our flight might be delayed and then it sometimes takes a while to get the hire car. All we received was a curt response to our email saying simply 'the hotel is closed at 22.00' - how rude! We were only trying to be considerate, just in case we were a little late. So my advice is to be aware of this in case you are likely to need to check in late because of a late arriving flight. There is no mention of this on the hotel's website or on any of the booking companies websites - all it says is that the hotel CAR PARK closes at 22.00 NOT the hotel. I think the response we got when all we were doing was trying to be helpful, shows a total disregard for the standards of good customer service. As a result of this we cancelled our booking and went elsewhere - their loss, not ours! …
This is, as Hans pointed out a 2 star hotel. Even so the welcome on arrival was friendly and the room clean and comfortable. Hans and Christine could not have been mmore helpful. Breakfast was a delight with Hans producing his own home made jams for our delectation. It was good to have the security of a closed yard to leave the car. Hans was very good at giving advice and dierctions on places to go. A thoroughly good week. Someone commented on the lights! Electricity in France is expensive and economy is required when you take into account the price one pays for the accommodation. Id you didn't try Hans's Carthanage you missed a treat!
Stayed in this hotel for four nights at high season. This is a typical and well run hotel in a small beautiful village in France. Villeneuve Les Beziers is situated just south of the big motorway through Herault. The hotel is in the pittoresque old town of Villeneuve Bz with a couple of restaurangs at a close walk. The famous Canal de Midi passes the village and there is only approx 8 kilometers ride along the canal by bicycle to the beach of Portirange Plage. Our room had TV and a bathroom and also a "clima" wich cost extra. Also the breakfast cost extra. The wifi is free to use. The hotel owners are very nice and serviceminded and speaks english and swedish! The rooms are very vell cleaned. So it's a good two-three star hotel for a reasonable price.
Stayed here the night before our flight as it was near the airport, the only redeeming quality was that it was spotlessly clean. No bath towels, only one pillow, but had free WiFi. Luckily it was only a short stroll to a little square where there were a couple of bar/restaurants and the picturesque canal du midi nearby, unfortunately most of the negatives mentioned on here were correct but it was extremely cheap so you really did get what you paid for!!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights in September. The location is very good for cyclists and there is a secure area for cycle storeage. Whilst there the hotel was very quiet . Which for us was good as we were tired from the ride from Carcassonne on a very hot day. The extra charge of 10 euros for the use of the air-con was questionable ?? if you wanted it. The room was clean and tidy and quiet. The breakfast was not what one would expect from a reasonably appointed 2 star rating. I would have expected a lot more for the amount charged for it !!. As recent reviews show the owners were not very joyful but after talking to them for a while they came around, Hans was helpful but his wife was a little dis-interested. Look for the L'Auberge du Canal restaurant on the canal bank . Near the main camping site. Good " Plat de Jour" at mid day here.…
The hotel is a building from the 19th century. It´s not very modernized and that has its charm. That´s why it´s a basic hotel. Do not expect any luxury. The hotel is very clean, staff is friendly and helpful. The owner speaks a lot of languages. The breakfast is okay for 6 Euros, but you can also have it elsewhere for about the same price. Unfortunately in the bathroom there is sometimes a sewer smell. according to the owner it is a problem in the village. The price could be a little lower for what you get, but is still OK.
We were had a surley greeting on arrival. The rooms and corridors all seem to have 20 watt light bulbs and are 'dingey'. The outdoor area hasn't been cleaned in years. The room we had smelt of drains and when we complained we were told it didn't smell. A day later we were told it was because the new street drainage system couldn't cope with the older hotel drains. We only had hand towels (which were thin and fraying at the edges) in our room. We asked for larger towels to be told they didn't have larger ones. On leaving we were told that we could have had them but they don't put them in rooms because people take the towels to the beach and they can't get them clean. Worst of all I had a bed that was sagging and 5 days later I still have a sore back. To add insult to injury was the fact that we asked for a room for 3 and they chose to give us a room for 4 and charge us for 4.…
Arriving at hotel it looked okay. Happy Hans the owner appeared a bit distracted. He didn't seem interested. Breakfast on the first morning of our 2 night stay, the teapot arrived minus a lid but with a saucer over it and the grapes were certainly not as fresh as they could be. It just seemed as if we were an irritation to them. The credit card machine was broken so we had to pay cash and he was not amused to be asked to come and receive the money for our stay. This hotel was clean but lacked atmosphere and happy staff. This is one hotel to miss without a doubt needless to say I would not stay there again. A hotel to miss and don't be fooled by the web site - the smiles are fake!
