The 3* Hotel Saint-Alban nestled behind a gateway and surrounded by generous vegetation illuminated with colorful flowers and chirping birds is a former residence of the 19th century bishops of Agde at Nézignan-l'Évêque, This prestigious property, whose silhouette adorns the labels of a vintage wine still produced today and appreciated by connoisseurs, was the subject of a recent renovation, which awakens the classical spirit of this charming building with a touch of elegant modernity. A WELCOMING TABLE D'HÔTE We serve Table d'hôte dinners (except Sundays and Mondays) with reservation only. Nadia and Philippe welcome you to their Table d'hôte which offers carefully prepared dishes favoring local foods. It is a three course menu (starter, main course, dessert and mineral water) served either indoors at the magnificient oak dinner table or outdoors in the shade of a centennial pine tree.

A lovely hotel, everything you would hope for in a character property. Friendly and helpful new owners who offer a warm welcome. The bedrooms are nicely done and many have views. Beautiful grounds divided into additional public “rooms”, a well shaded dining area and lounge, and a sunny pool and another seating area. There is a large secure private parking area. There were very good breakfasts and dinner, the latter accompanied by excellent local wines. Don’t often write reviews but this demands one. We hope to return.

We were invited by a friend, who had recently discovered this excellent restaurant, and wanted to share it with us. We were not disappointed, absolutely wonderful. A really good menu and wine list , matched by great food beautifully presented. A real hidden gem , English spoken if you need it , highly recommended

Hostellerie St Alban is a real gem! We spent 5 nights there recently using Nezignan as a base for day trips around the region and into Provence. M. Cortes is a wonderful host and was most helpful in giving us guidance on what to see and do. He and his team provide a smooth, discrete and friendly service and we were made to feel more like house guests rather than just a couple of tourists. Room 104 was perfect with balconies overlooking the hotel gardens and cool modern decor - we slept so well!! Nezignan itself is a small and rather quiet village but conveniently located 10 minutes from the A9 autoroute and a short drive from Pezenas with its bustling cafes, restaurants and winding cobbled streets. We were blessed with hot and sunny weather so meals were taken al fresco in the shade of the tree-lined garden. Whether you are looking for a base from which to explore this beautiful corner of France or simply want to de-stress in style, Hostellerie St Alban is the place.

We stayed here for a local wedding after much traveling around France and Switzerland. We felt very welcome, the rooms were lovely. A/C worked very well. We enjoyed the secluded garden and patio restaurant. The pool was a great place to unwind. The host gave us good local info and guided us to the Pezanas market and the beach in Cap d'Agde. I would recommend this as a place for rest and rejuvenation in the area. Everything is accessible by car from here.

We were welcomed by the very friendly Hotel owner/manager who spoke quite good English. The hotel was for one night - we had two doubles for a family of four. They were large enough rooms, well appointed though the air con unit was noisy. Nice views. Smart modern bathroom. We did not use the pool or restaurant but drove to Cap D'Agde for dinner - 25 mins in the car. It felt a little expensive for a one night stay. It is not a modern hotel chain. A proper independently run hotel with charm. I suspect you can eat well there. The restaurant had a nice outside terrace too.

Two rooms for 230€ for an overnight on the way to Spain ? Sounds good. Pool, restaurant, convenient access from the highway and gracious welcome. No AC and it is 40C but you can't have everything. A bottle of rosé nicely priced on the terrace. Then dinner when things start to unravel when the owner appears. You have only 6 garden tables but clearly Class A and Class Z clients. The Class A includes locals, those who pass several nights or speak only French. Class Z clients (that includes us) are those who speak several languages and spend only one night on the way to somewhere else. Class A get superb constant service from the owner. Class Z does not even deserve a 30 seconds greeting. Our very active son goes to play with another three children in the courtyard. We hear yelling and run over. The owner is annoyed that our son put two handfuls of gravel into his fountain. We find out that all children were up to it. Although i have absolutely no issues with our son being told off that he was wrong and that he needed to rectify the situation, I have a very big issue with the agressive and antagonistic way the owner handled it. Even when I confronted him with it, he did not back down. He was plainly mean and shouting in my face. So......my overall review is "find another place to stop by. Despite having some great advantages, the owner makes it a not very nice place to stop by"

We stayed whilst on our way to a nearby wedding (it won't last) and the most striking thing is the house itself. It's rather grand and dates from the 19th century and has real character. We were placed in a large room for €115 which was indeed capacious with two pleasingly grand windows to let in the light. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom adequately equipped. There was a small television. It's not modern, some might consider things a bit dated, for example, there's no air con in the rooms. On reflection €115 seems poor value for money. The owners were pleasant enough though seemed to preoccupy themselves with other matters at times. They have two dogs which roam about but aren't bothersome. It's more like being a guest in someone's home rather than in a hotel. Our evening meal with wine was, we felt, correctly priced. Breakfast (8€ rather than the advertised €12) was let down by the bread. Our overall impression was that it was nothing wonderful, given the setting it should have been.

We use the hotel restaurant of for lunch. On three previous occasions this year we were delighted with both the food and the service. Today, we had booked and received a welcome email. When we arrived it was obvious we were not expected. Laurent, (the boss) put a few tables together and departed. Eventually, we were able to obtain an apero ~ then wait, then wait. When the food finally arrived it was good but, we had been told that there were so many things on the menu that he could not offer today. Most of the time we were completely ignored ~ we will neither return for many a day and will nor, in future, recommend it to friends. What a shame that our last meal in France this year should have ended this way. Indifference is the bain of any restaurant ~ today, Leurent excelled in this.

My wife, my parents and I went for dinner at Saint Alban. It was a warm evening and all guests were eating in the garden space out front of the restaurant as the interior did not appear to be air conditioned. We sat down to dinner at 8.15pm but there was inadequate lighting in the garden which is also surrounded by hedges. Whilst there was a single candle on the table, we resorted to eating with phone torches balanced on our glasses, yet this did not prompt the waiting staff to bring any more candles. The starters tasted good (although it was too dark to see them). Most disappointing was my main course. I originally ordered beef brochettes, but they had run out. Instead i ordered the Cote de boeuf. When this arrived it was ridiculously enormous and the qualify of meet poor. No warning was given as to the size of the cut which must have been at least a kilo of meet. Whilst charred black on the outside it was still mostly blue in the middle. We complained to the waitress but no adjustment was made to our bill, which was simply left without a word. If you decide to eat at this restaurant I recommend you request a seat next to one of the few garden lights and avoid the Côte de boeuf.
