As with most of the reviews we used it as a stopover. As a restaurant it is worthy of 5 stars - the food and service are absolutely excellent, and for the quality I think really good value for money. The rooms themselves are good, a bit quirky -which we like -but not exceptional. If you want a gourmet experience...

We stayed here for one night on route to the south. The part of the hotel we stayed in was across the road from the reception in a lovely old house with good off street parking at the back of the building in a larger courtyard. The room was large and in the eves of the house. The bathroom was...

This was the second visit to this wonderful restaurant with rooms. The Pegue family run an excellent business and do a superb job looking after their customers. The rooms are comfortable. Dinner always delights and the wines recommended by Maximillian are sublime.

Positioned in a delightful village off the beaten track but perfect for a stopover, this family owned hotel offers very pleasant rooms with the luxury of an excellent restaurant too. Our welcome was warm and friendly for our one night stay, cases sufficient for a week were carried upstairs for us and immediately we were made to feel at home....

The reception and restaurant is on one side of the road and the bedrooms in a large house opposite. Car parking is through the green gate at the back of the house. Large, comfortable spotlessly clean bedroom & bathroom. Bottle of water & biscuits in the room. Dinner was excellent – we have never seen a cheese trolley or wine...

While visiting France in May, 2013 we stayed at this Inn and ate at the restaurant. Everything was superb, we cannot say enough about the experience, fabulous food and comfortable rooms. But the food could be put up against any we've ever had, even with world renowned chefs!

We stay here often when returning from Bergerac to our home in England. We regard our night here as part of our holiday. Our car is usually full of wine and luggage and the secure parking is reassuring. The welcome from the Pegue family is always warm, friendly and genuine. Bedrooms are big, comfortable and relaxing, with Room 1 having...

We stayed here for a night en route back to the Channel ports. It is a pleasant hotel with a charming, restaurant. The meal was fine, particularly the duck breast in apple Calvados sauce. Overall a good experience, but not quite the great one that others report. We thought it a little expensive for the quality of the food and...

Encouraged by reviews from other travellers, we hoped that we would be just as fortunate as they had been. We were! Arriving on a dark, frosty evening we were greeted cheerfully by the patron informing us that we had been upgraded to a superior room. What a comfortable, warm, clean and spacious room it was too. We had booked dinner...

We live in the south west of France, in the Gers. Some years ago we actually found the Hostellerie de la Mere Hamard by accident really. The place is a gem, and we stay there on all our trips;it is also very convenient, as its exactly half way between where we live, and Calais. The restaurant is superb, and the rooms...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A few minutes outside Tours, in the Heart of the chateaux of the Loire, La Mère Hamard has made its mark on the village of Semblançay. This house has been here for over a century and has a fascinating history. It is in this place that we suggest you crossing a few hours in our company. We could speak to you for a long time in writing about our passion for all which titillates papillae. But we shall not make him: nothing replaces the experience of the plate and that of the glass, which we hope for it will be for your taste. All our products are home-made from fresh products, selected strictly. We attach a particular choice to the origin of products, which we prefer of season and picking. Best Regards, Alice et Olivier Loize. ... more   less
