I have stayed in hotel leon viejo for almost 3 weeks and loved every second of it! The couple who runs the hotel was like a second pair of grandparents for us and the place is super nice! Recommending this to everyone!!

We have stayed in many hotels in Leon. Leon Viejo is 25% cheaper than most other hotels with a pool. Very nice house, nice small pool and excellent value for money. No luxury but a home away from home. the hosts are super kind and helpful. Ideal to speak some Spanish.

The staff are very friendly and talkative if you speak Spanish. They're also very helpful with information regarding bus timetables, etc. However, we stayed at the Hotel León Viejo for 3 nights and no soap or shampoo was provided after the first day! In effect no toiletries despite charging US50.00 per night! The location is good and the hotel environment very pleasant.

I came to Leon for a 4 week certificate program and chose Hotel Leon Viejo because of the few places my school recommended, it offered private rooms for a decent price and had a pool. I quickly came to adore this boutique, family owned hotel and actually stayed an additional 3 weeks here to complete a volunteer project in town. The common areas were true to the pictures online and the rooms were more spacious than I had expected; each room offers 2 double beds, although there is a slight increase in cost for additional guests. The owners and full-time receptionist/housekeeper became my friends, and quickly we were enjoying talks and meals together. I didn’t expect to be able to use the kitchen as much as I’ve been able to – it is literally the same access and freedom you would find in a guest house or hostel. One of the drawbacks at Hotel Leon Viejo is also what makes it incredibly safe; guests are not allowed a front gate key, so sometimes late night partiers might find themselves waiting for a few moments to be let in. However, front door regulation and security also breeds an environment where you can freely leave your door open, or your laptop out on the table – I’ve felt safer at Hotel Leon Viejo then I ever have at any US or European hotel common area. If you are looking for the peacefulness of a home with the mild perks of a budget hotel, come to Hotel Leon Viejo. You’ll meet intelligent travelers, a delightful staff and you likely won’t gaze up at at lime trees from the refreshing pool again anytime soon for this price.

Very nice stay very kind people, at the time there is no breakfast proposed not even a cup of coffee which was very frustrating the first morning we bought a cheap coffee machine some excellent grounded Nicaraguan coffee then we could have our own , how often and when we wanted, bought papaya on the market plus green lime ; the king was our cousin ! a big drawback we need to get the attention of someone to get out or in , everything is locked locked we could not have gone out quickly in case of emergency and I do not like that The bedroom, large, cool and airy was very pleasant but I was very aware that no cleaning ever took place during our stay (4 days) there is a cute tiny swimming pool , lighted at night, fine to keep one fresh but not for swimming really I spent my time in the pool picking up dead leaves Not really dirty but not really clean A good place if you are open minded AC works brilliantly as well as WIFI Shower has only tepid water but who needs hot water in Nicaragua to recommend for along stay where you bring your own things and do the cleaning your self
