The Sleeping Dog Hostel is very clean and the owners and his pets are lovely. This new hostel is on a path to become very successful. It has nice facilities and the pancake breakfasts are very delicious. The Canadian owner is always happy to help. Recommend.
Great location, within 7/8 minutes walk to downtown Leon . Rooms are okay, beds were a bit hard. But the owner and the staff were excellent. The Canadian owner was, for us Dutch guys with no Spanish knowledge, easy to communicate with. They did everything for you what you asked, like giving advice about hotspots, fixing transportation and giving direction. Also, the breakfast pancakes were awesome. Would recommend this hostel to everyone. There is a dog and cat in the hostel, which were fun to play with. The big dog was a bit friendly giant. Go visit The Sleeping Dog Hostel!
We stayed at the Sleeping Dog Hostel for 3 nights and were very happy with it! Everyone was very friendly and helpful, pancake breakfast every morning was delicious, endless coffee supply was a huge bonus too! It was a quiet area but close enough to everything.
We booked to stay in the sleeping dog hostel for 3 nights whilst staying in Leon. The hostel itself is newly opened and hence some work needs to be done to get it up to standard to have guests in it, in my opinion. For £20/night in a private room with aircon and an ensuite, the room was reasonably priced and would be a bargain when everything has been fixed/finished. The saving grace of this hostel is the staff and owners. They accommodated everything we needed and tried to fix everything that broke whilst we were there as best they could. Although I have given it a 2/5 rating for our stay (toilet broke and the wifi stopped working whilst we were there, as well as other problems), I have no doubt that this will be a great hostel to stay at in the near future! For the owners reference, some of the issues we had were: - Very uncomfortable beds, with the mattresses falling through the bed frame during the night. - No shower head, and so made showering difficult as it was effectively a hose. - Loose wires and bare concrete walls could do with being tidied up. - Broken toilet as mentioned above - Understand there is nothing that could have been done about the wifi, on your part, was just frustrating when trying to book future hostels (macdonalds free wifi came in handy here) PS, a huge dog roams around with the owner, but it is a gentle giant! They have also now got a kitten aswell, which kept us occupied one evening!…
Great place to stay in Leon. Slightly off from the busy end of things, but never far from anything. Even easy to walk to from the bus terminal at the market (if coming from UCA in Managua). Jean-Paul and his dog were welcoming and friendly, the facility is clean and felt safe. Had a room with toilet/shower attached and fans were adequate for comfortable sleeping. This is a modest accommodation for travelers that are serious about exploring the town and saving money.
