As some more recent reviews indicate, this place has changed hands since the Italian owners that are mentioned earlier (and also in Lonely Planet). We stayed here for four nights and were really disappointed. To be constructive, here are pros and cons... pros... Central location to beach and other bars, restaurants etc. They were helpful in organising a scooter for... More

Very basic room for the Price. Every question was one the Many. The restaurant is always empty and no atmosphere. Positeve was the balcony with view on the Nice green garden. Room was spacious But needed a good clean up (there were a lot of cobwebs.

Don't waste your money. We booked prior to the change of ownership and it's clearly gone down hill. Rude staff, awful food They don't clean the room or empty bins (and don't bother to tell you that you need to ask them to do this - it's important given you can't flush paper down the toilet). Worst place we stayed... More

Having booked one night at the Angel Inn Hotel further down the beach, we went in search for another hotel closer to the action and found that Palm Beach had availability. We explained to the manager that we wished to book for 2 more nights, and he said he would be happy to arrange that, although insisted that he didn't... More

This is a place to avoid (don't be fooled by the Lonely Planet guide as management and location have obviously changed). The room was reasonable - spacious and clean apart from a couple of cockroaches. However, the management and workers were disinterested and borderline rude. It was telling that hardly anyone used the bar and restaurant area. We asked about... More

We spent 3 nights at Palm Beach Resort, just 50 metres walk from Uppuveli beach. It's a great little place with around 20 rooms surrounding a lush, well-tended courtyard and covered dining area. This place used to be owned by Europeans who've returned to Italy and was taken over by locals who are exceptionally helpful, hospitable and serve up great... More

I had a great stay at the palm beach resort. The owners Donna and Luca are super nice. They really take the time for a personal chat with all the guests. I felt welcome. And the food is lovely. So many beautiful memories at Trinco!!!! Thank you :)

My boyfriend and I visited Trincomale in the beginning of October when it was low season. We found Palm Beach as we were looking for a nice and cozy restaurant where we could enjoy a glass of wine. The dining is impeccable and did not disappoint. Apart from the simplicity of the authentic Italian meals, the couple who owns the... More

This resort is a good combination of feeling home and holiday feeling. It is close to the beach and clean. The dinner includes just Italian food but this is good. But if somebody wants local food there are some restaurants around. The Italian couple is really friendly and helpful. Only suggestion we have is to install a electrical Heater for... More

Nice place, surrounding and garden. Close to beach. Rooms are spaceful and clean, though the matress was in our point of view uncomfortable. The food is expensive and the Italian cuisine slightly overestimated. Breakfast is not included. In comparison to warmth of Sri Lankan people we missed this at this place.

“Budget rooms are available on a house right next door, either with shared or private bathroom. The difference is price is big enough (2000 vs over 4000) so it's a good option. Only downside (apart from being obviously less nice) is that the gate is not secure, so beware that before opening your room door to strangers).”
