Tiny overpriced room (we found a better room in the guesthouse across the square for less than half the price) with a leaking bathroom and a sink so tiny you banged your nose trying to wash your face, and each bed was so crammed in, it left no room for your clothes at all. Restaurant was expensive and small portions....

What makes Pagoda Guest House so very special are the hosts, Sharmila and Rabindra (and of course their gorgeous dog Pupu!) I was only going to stay for 5 days and ended up staying for a month! They made me feel at home and were always very helpful with everything I needed-- helping me find the right bus to get...

I have visited the Pagoda Guest House on several occasions and have enjoyed my stay every time. Both owners and staff are extremely welcoming and helpful and really take the guesswork out of how to get around. They will also keep you aware of must see events and local festivals. I have found the rooms to be very clean and...

Pagoda and NEwa guest houses. What gems in every way. I am a global, frequent traveler, and have stayed there in 2009, 2010, 2013 (2x), 2014 (4x) What matters to me is cleanliness, friendly owners/operators, atmosphere and ease of location. the owners, Sharmila and Rabin, are simply fantastic. nothing is too difficult for them to arrange. Pagoda is indeed very...

We had Room #503 & #303 in the new block (previously the Newa guesthouse) of Pagoda Guesthouse. #503 was way too tiny for a Deluxe Double Room (2 persons) but the roof terrace outside the room provided incredible views of the Nyatapola Pagoda & Taumadhi Square. There is no storage space at all and we could hardly walk once the...

We were a family of 4 and given a room in the old house. The room was super tiny, just enough space for 2 beds, the bed and the pillows were as hard as rock. The washroom was so tiny and needs urgent updating. There was a heater in the room but could not use due to the electricity off....

Must say this guest house have a great location, rooms are clean – some bigger than others. We first had a “family room” in the main guest house, and it was very small, beds were like sleeping on a door and pillows like bricks, small bath room. The next day we moved to a big room in the “newa” building...

Stunning roof terrace view of Nyatapola, owners of the guesthouse are most friendly and helpful. Friend was down with accute gastritis and guesthouse owner helped arrange for medical attention and bought medicine from local pharmacy. Extremely indebted. Staff are friendly and most helpful, most recommended.

We arrived to a truly clueless receptionist whose only answer to any question we have was a smile and "I don't know". He was unaware of our booking, unaware of what room we booked and if any rooms had A/C (they don't) and completely oblivious to the fact that the room smelled like gasoline and someone had left their bag...

Our room was rather large and clean. Certainly a good place to stay even if the prices are rather high and the service somehow lacks enthusiasm. All services one needs are available (laundry, free wifi, restaurant, taxi...).

“Not budget - charging up to 3 times the price in Rough guide, which they are riding on. Very poor value.”

“The choice of room depends on what you wish from it. The lower left room of Pagoda is right by the door. Simple 2-bed room, view of the courtyard, very inexpensive ($10-$15/night) with shared bath. Upper rooms in back: more quiet in early morning. I have not stayed on the upper floors of Newa, but the 1st room front corner is lovely - book room and location (also a bit noisy...but it IS a city. Medieval noises: gongs, animal hoofs, people snorting (no nose sprays :-D), carts...what a back-drop! Book rooms wqell ahead: they do get busy!”
