We stayed in one of the many little thatched cottages dotted around beautifully laid-out and maintained grounds. The dassies obviously also liked it as there were dozens of them darting around. There was crazy golf cleverly laid out to take advantage of the rocks and trees. The cottage was clean if rather small and spartan but perfectly adequate. The meals...

Excellent accommodation and central point for visiting the rest of Ai-Ais TFC. View from chalet amongst the rocks ideal to watch grazing Gemsbok at sundown and to watch the sun set over the rocky semi-desert.

We had a fantastic few days at this property - a true oasis. The room was very comfortable (even though our kids shared with us so there were 4 of us in the room) with luxurious linen & very comfortable beds. The only slight downside was the long walk to the room when we had to carry our luggage but...

Stayed at this place and was totally mind blown. The staff was really helpful, the facilities was the best we have seen so far. So sorry we only booked for one night as we will definitely come back for more. This place is full of surprises. The rock shower and swimming pool was the sherry on top. Game sleeping right...

First impression - coach parties! There was a large coach party the day we arrived and three more on the second day; not what I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, someone has invested a huge amount of money in creating a beautiful oasis in the wilderness but then seems to have gone a bit too far - eg. does...

My fiancé and I stayed at Canyon Lodge in April this year. I was blown away by the green lawns and the beautiful garden. The room was clean and the air conditioner worked. The swimming area is absolutely fantastic. I could lie there in the sun and read for hours. I can't wait to go back. It was the perfect...

Coming through the desert in the middle of nowhere, this feels like an oasis. The staff is very well trained and very friendly. The buffet could have a bit more variety for the prize charged. But I will definitively be back soon.

This place has an amazing view of the canyon, especially from the pool. Where you also get a lovely sunset. Though this place is a total maze and you sort of have to figure out where the pool is (a very long walk) it's worth the workout. The wireless connection at this place is beyond slow, customer service is alright. The oryx...

The ranking reflects the combination of a great setting, good accommodation offset by fair service and average to poor food (though on the last two days things improved quite markedly) which at the prices charged is below expected standards. This is pity as the Lodge offers a location within 20k of the Fish River Canyon gate and the facilities could...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made many a traveller think that God has forgotten this land. Not so, just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, leading off the dusty D324, you’ll find the Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the lodge and forms an integral part of the overall design. The 20 thatch stone bungalows are dotted among the kopies and are beautifully designed, with the walls shaped around the hills so that boulders protrude into your room, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion. ... more   less
