We had a lovely stay at the Canyon Lodge. The setting was breathtaking. All rooms were chalets built between the rocks. The swimming pool had a breathtaking view, including a stunning sunset! The staff however was a bit "dull" and the buffet was pricey for the delivered quality.

Accommodation is in separate bungalows with stone-build walls and a thatched roof. Oryx roam the place, so watch out for them. Service is friendly but very slow and chaotic. Baggage service however was adequate. There is air-conditioning and an in-room safe but no hair dryer and no minibar or fridge. The rooms are small. Water supply did not give any...

When arriving to the Canyon Lodge we were immediately blown away! Such a nice oasis in the dry desert. The lodge was lovely, it felt like a honeymoon. And don't get me started on the pool! Cooling down at the end of the day in an infinity pool overlooking the vast desert: almost surreal. As for the staff, they are...

The friendly and helpful staff and cool, pristine gardens welcomes you, and soon you find yourself in a quaint chalet guarded by...

It was hard to find anybody to register us on arrival, but once this was done, we found the location of the lodge quite breathtaking. The pool is in the desert and is a beautiful place to sit with a sundowner. Dinner was a buffet, which was very good, but we did find it very crowded and opted to remain...

We stayed in a family room with our children. Imagine their awe when we opened the door and our chalet was a rock jumping and climbing paradise. Directions as regards room locations poor (by reception) and signage inadequate. No written or verbal advice regarding activities available at hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The harsh rocky desert region at the southern tip of Namibia has made many a traveller think that God has forgotten this land. Not so, just 20 kilometres from the main viewpoint of the Fish River Canyon, leading off the dusty D324, you’ll find the Canon Lodge, an oasis seemingly in the middle of nowhere. The Canon Lodge is one of two existing accommodation centres in the expanse of the 530 km² Gondwana Canon Park. Tall weather-beaten granite boulders mark the location of the lodge and forms an integral part of the overall design. The 20 thatch stone bungalows are dotted among the kopies and are beautifully designed, with the walls shaped around the hills so that boulders protrude into your room, cool to the touch and smoothly rounded by an eternity of erosion. ... more   less
