We spent one night in Okaukuejo rest camp when travelling Etosha east to west. Key problem of the resort is the lack of proper service and maintenance. The camp is clearly living of the substance and rooms are getting worse over time. At least the...More

I'd been persuaded to try this venue and the waterhole. May be I had been spoiled by my previous lodge/camps in Namibia but this was way behind, Convenient yes and 24hr access to the waterhole yes. Service is a concept unknown to the whole place....More

I have been going to Okaukuejo for over 20 years, so sad to see on my most recent visit that it has now become so neglected! No maintenance is done! There was no water and electricity for 2 days whilst we were there. Once it...More

The camping site is rocky and sandy. It was very busy in November. We lost power so I had to shower in the dark. However the waterhole was an easy walk and lots of area for everybody to sit and watch. I was alone and...More

Our arrival at Etosha started at te Okaukuejo Rest Camp. The room was nicely decorated but rather small and the shower did not really drain. So we spent most of our time either in the spacious pool or at the waterhole. The waterhole is the...More

We used Asco Car Hire in Windhoek for our car rental and all supplies. Highly recommend! They were super helpful and they have everything you could need.

Please delete all references to rhinos in your posts - poachers have killed 2 rhinos this week in etosha. PLEASE be aware that poachers monitor all socia media for locations and pictures which are often imbedded with GPS coordinates. Please doable the GPS on your cameras and smartphones.

I have booked to stay at Okaukeujo for 2 nights in October in a premier waterhole chalet and I believe this also includes breakfast. We obviously want to do a self drive safari while we are there. What is the procedure for booking this? Do you need to book the day before, are there queues and how much approx. are park fees etc.? Any other advice anyone can give on anything would be much appreciated. We visited there last year passing through - and the waterhole was amazing - hence returning for a couple of nights this time. Thanks in advance
