Awesome experience Situated in the middle of Ongava reserve At the heart of Etosha , one of the world's biggest natural reserve Tented camp with recycled material Dedicated personal And great safaris. Lions rhinos elephants springboks orricks kudus giraffes ... right next door. Ask for 'ugly six' safari driver, he has a sixth sense for game spotting. Told him we'd...

We spent a night at Andersson's camp, the lodge is well located very near the entrance of Etosha Park. But I was very disappointed of the quality of the lodge, very simple, no decor, just an outdoor restaurant and sofa with old chairs, it really looks like a canteen. And during dinnner hundreds of flying beetles over our heads and...

Anderson’s Camp is on the west of Etosha – it had been a ‘Wilderness Safari’ Lodge but they have now gone out on their own. The accommodation was made up of several smallish tent like buildings. Which were perfectly adequate but not luxurious. However, they were beautifully ‘shabby chick’ and the bathroom was so innovative with a zink tub for...

We were given a warm welcome by the staff after a long drive. Rooms were in a tent style but with stone cladding and a small verandah. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedding was excellent. The bathroom was quirky and a little basic, with a metal bucket under the shower which could prove tricky for those who might...

A very warm welcome and friendly staff. I found the rooms gloomy and as a disabled person was unable to use the shower as the tub was too deep. I ordered a medium steak which was what I would describe as "blue". Everyone else`s was equally undercooked.

Great location for access to west side of Etosha Game Reserve. Main reception area is dated and the rooms have a basic charm, they may or may not appeal. Staff very friendly and the food was good. The Christmas Day game drive was a delight.

The staff are excellent and welcoming. The food is very good. The game drives very successful - prides of lions and other Big Five game. The rooms have been designed to give a feeling of being in a shack in the bush - you could say they do this too well as, apart from the bed, you could easily imagine...

When hearing Ongava GR you expect first class accommodation and service. The Anderson Camp ist contemporary, however, the "rooms" a disgrace. Nobody is able to use the toilet without bumping the "door" against every corner of the (tiny tiny) room, the toilet seat and oneself. The tents are lacking maintenance and a chair or two. Food was average.

The camp is quite a drive from the main road but well worth the wait. The staff met us with friendly happy smiles and we were soon shown to our room/tent. It was quirky with an oval tin bath set in the floor of the shower which acted as a bath/shower tray. The view over the watering hole was great...

Anderssons Camp is just outside Etosha, in the Ongava Private Game Reserve. Being in a private reserve provides greater flexibility for game drives as you are not restricted to the pre-existing roads and tracks. Another great lodge. We particularly appreciated the “hide” that provides a unique close up view to the animals in and around the waterhole next to the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled in mopane scrub on white calcrete soils, Andersson's Camp is situated 4.5km from Etosha's Andersson Gate. The camp was named after Swedish explorer Charles Andersson - one of the first Europeans to 'discover' Etosha, Africa's largest saltpan. The resurrected former farmstead that stands on the site now forms the centre of a charming camp fronting onto a productive waterhole. The 18 tented en-suite units are raised on decks for an enhanced view of the waterhole and surrounding vistas. The camp is an exciting example of sustainable construction; this model of eco-sensitive lodging provides an authentic, safe and down-to-earth experience for small groups, families and independent travellers to the Etosha region and is easily accessible by either road or air. Activities include morning and/or afternoon game drives in Etosha National Park, night drives (on request) and nature walks on Ongava Reserve. Subject to the availability of vehicles and guides, morning and afternoon/evening game drives on Ongava Game Reserve can be arraged at the camp at extra cost. ... more   less
