We were blown away by our wonderful experience at this Lodge. It was amazing. The staff were super friendly and the food superb. I do not eat meat and the chef made me some of the best fish dishes I have ever tasted. The accommodations were luxurious and the main lodge area fantastic. Would recommend to anyone. I am absolutely... More

The service, friendly staff, fabulous architecture, great food, fantastic guide and location, location, location. A thoroughly enjoyable stay. I just wish I had more than 3 nights here and had the time to just sit back and appreciate the surroundings more. A little disappointing that you can't walk to/from your room, you need to be collected/delivered in the golf cart.

The Fort describes its self as “The Fort is unlike any other, the only one of its kind in Namibia”. We agree, of the 7 places we stayed in Namibia (and 12 places across Africa) this place provided a uniquely bad experience. When we arrived we quickly knew something was wrong – no welcoming party, just the Client Manager. The... More

Stayed here for 2 nights, this place is absolutely top notch! We were received with cold towels and ice tea when we arrived. Large comfortable cabins with waterhole view. Fantastic food and service. Relaxed atmosphere, nice, not crowded, pool area. Went on 2 guided tours, "sun downer" and "morning trip" with "our favorite guide Justine". A bit pricy, but worth... More

The Fort is all about catering to the guests, with personal attention, great service, quality food, and very well-equipped rooms. It is small in the number of guests, which keeps things quiet and quaint. Our room, as part of the main lodge avoided the need for escort back and forth to the individual lodges. It had A.C., free WiFi, complimentary... More

Arriving at Onguma the Fort felt like arriving at a luxurious oasis. This was my favorite place to stay in Namibia. It felt luxurious, the staff was attentive, the food was great, the cream sherry decanter in your room every evening was the perfect touch. By the time we got here, we were ready to just relax after a two... More

The experience at The Fort was incredible. The staff went above and beyond and were extremely friendly. The accommodation was amazing - beautiful view onto the watering hole from our private villa with an outside shower. The pool is amazing - just the ability to sit and watch the animals come and go was a highlight - same with dinner.... More

WE spent 2 nights here. The individual "forts" are most impressive and luxurious. If you are fortunate enough to have one facing the waterhole, that is an added bonus. Transport from the individual fort to the main dining are is by golf cart as you are in a private game reserve with predators. Perhaps the most impressive resort we have... More

We recently visited Namibia for a couple of weeks and stayed at three high end resorts including Onguma the Fort, just outside the Von Lindequist Gate at the eastern end of Etosha National Park. Our reservation was made many months in advance through Discover Namibia Safari & Tours, who gave the excellent recommendation for a private reserve and property. There... More

We were at Onguma the Fort in september 2016. The lodge is directly outside the park. The rooms are excellent and beautifully styled in an African style. The rooms have almost total privacy with a nice view. At night it was almost completely dark so we saw the milky-way. Dinner was Moroccan. The personnel is friendly and competent. It was... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Fort is unlike any other, the only one of its kind in Namibia, built in exactly the right spot to give our guests probably one of the best sunset views in the whole of Namibia. Overlooking the beautiful scarceness of the Etosha Pans, decorated only with its wild animals and hundreds of Camel Thorn trees that dot the landscape. Accommodation consists of twelve Bush Suites with fire places for the winter months and air coolers for the summer months. Each suite has an indoor and outdoor shower. The one and only Fort Suite is situated inside the Main Tower of the main complex. It has a large beautifully designed bedroom that leads into a lounge area and out onto a private viewing deck. ... more   less
