What a lovely place to be in early autumn. We took advantage of a terrific end of season offer and spent 2 glorious days on this beautiful island in early October. The Murray Hotel is located smack in the downtown, so you are close to the hub of activity and the horse traffice. Mackinaw Island, as most know, has only... More

Always stay here, very close to the Arnold Line ferry dock(cheapest way to get to the island), right in the center of town, large hottub/spa, you get your bags transferred, and if you get there early in the day, they will hold your bags for check in. Some of the rooms are on the small side, but always clean with... More

The Old Word Charm is something special on Mackinac Island, but I think Murray Hotel has missed it a bit. The room we had was hilariously tiny (standard double) and out dated. They need to redo most of this hotel to keep the colonial charm, but improve the accommodations. On a side note, we think they have some of the... More

I have stayed at the Murray for years and the experience is consistent. Quaint rooms with wallpaper and antiques and a great downtown location super close to Horn's, The Pink Pony and the ferries. I forgot to take a bathing suit, but would have loved to enjoy their outdoor hot tub recently. Their dock porter, Carlos, was a gem. Their... More

What a fun place to stay. Vintage but modern. I room was on the backside of the hotel and the noise from the traffic was to a minimum. Second floor had a nice patio with the large hot tub. We were fortunate to have wonderful weather and enjoy the outdoor patio definitely would recommend this hotel.

I feel like this was one step up from the usual hotels. As a whole, the Murray Hotel was amazing! Every room and the hallways, have different pictures hanging from the walls. These are old pictures and very antique looking! My mom and I spent an hour going to the different floors to look at them all. They have a... More

We stayed two nights at the Murray in one of the historic rooms on the 2nd floor. The room was incredibly small (the queen bed was against one wall so that I had to shimmy off the end of it to get in and out), but it was quite comfortable. The whole room and bathroom combined was probably no more... More

Had a suite on the second floor. Overlooked Market street. The Hotel is VERY victorian. I'm surprised that they didn't use this as a part of "Somewhere in time". We stayed because it was the least expensive we could find. I was having a really hard time sleeping the first night, so I want to the lobby and Alberto, who... More

Very quiet, old-fashioned and well kept hotel. Small place but it is in the heart of everything on the Island! They offer breakfast with a charge and sell fudge, of course! It is decorated like you are in a different era! Nice place on a different kind of island.
