#2 of 11 B&Bs / Inns in Holland
The Dutch Colonial Inn Bed and Breakfast originated as a family residence. The initial structure, built in 1928, served as a wedding gift for the bride and groom. We offer beautiful guest rooms and elegant suites with king or queen size sleeping accommodations. All rooms have private baths with tiled shower, most with a double jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The inn's wonderful atmosphere is perfect for a honeymoon, anniversary, birthday celebration or just a getaway. Spacious common areas include a delightful wicker-clad sun porch and a living room on the formal side, yet cozy enough to unwind in. Warm weather permitting, the white wooden rockers on the open front porch invite you to relax and rock as the world walks by. Our delicious full breakfast pampers you, yet provides a healthy and hearty homemade feast. Awaken to fresh brewed coffee, the fragrance of homemade muffins, coffeecakes and ham/sausage egg casseroles. Close to beautiful downtown Holland and just a short drive from one of the most beautiful beaches in Michigan.

My husband and I spent two nights at the Dutch Colonial Inn in May, 2021. The inn was very pretty and very clean. The location was convenient to downtown and the lake. The breakfast was great, and the hospitality was the best! We will definitely plan to stay again when visiting Holland!

Bob and Pat are terrific hosts in a home that is inviting, charming, and spacious. My wife and I felt welcomed and appreciated for who we were from the moment of our arrival. Pat knows where everything in the community is, made terrific recommendations about places to see and things to do. Bob is justifiably proud of the work he put into expansion of this wonderful inn to its current elegance so carefully maintained. Breakfasts were wonderful with lots of advance attention to special dietary needs. This is a perfect spot for adults seeking some time away together. Those with small children should consider the significant amount of fine china and crystal and other delicate touches that make this such a nice place to stay when making their determination about lodging. This would be a great place for older children.

Holland is a beautiful town with many nearby things to do. The downside of our trip was the Dutch Colonial Inn. I wish they had greater appreciation of the area. We had a beautiful day blueberry picking despite Bob telling us to save money at Aldi’s. I’ve never heard someone express the opinion that paratransit is a waste of money because, “There’s only one or two people ever on them.” Pat will be sure to warn you about any “foreigners,” and their “odd ways,” so you won’t be surprised at breakfast. Overall, the worst part of an otherwise wonderful vacation, was staying and Pat and Bob Elenbaas’ Dutch Colonial Inn.

Dutch Colonial Inn Holland MI Our visit to the Inn did not match up with the previous glowing reviews posted by others. While the rooms and location were good, the young woman who was running the business while the owners were on vacation was not up to the task. The breakfasts were held at 9 AM, which is too late during hot summer days. Those of us who were on time were forced to wait for the rest of the 10-12 “guys” as she called us. We were served one platter at a time rather than family style, which would have made more sense. Coffee was served in tea cups, which required continued requests for refills which were done one cup at a time by the host. There was no fresh fruit, and the entrees were all loaded with sugar. When guests inquired about venues to visit, the young woman showed little knowledge, especially of areas not in Holland. If you do select this B&B, be aware that they do not accept credit cards. This is in the fine print, but escaped our attention. When we presented her with cash, she had no funds to give us change.

I am so sorry that your stay at the Dutch Colonial Inn was not a good experience. During your stay, apparently our innkeeper was not doing the job as she was trained to do. We were told by some of our previous guests that she was doing a great job and we thought everything was going well. We will certainly discuss this with her. I personally want to thank you for choosing the Dutch Colonial Inn while visiting Holland.
