Detailed Reviews
We stayed for one night at the Oldtown Farmhouse B&B. Mary greeted us right away. She welcomed us and stayed to chat as we gathered our belongings and settled into our rooms. She also spent a bit with us when we returned from dinner and were planning in the lounge. Our ensuite room was well-sized and our beds were comfortable. The parking is plentiful for all guests. Mary is very friendly, talkative, and kind. This B&B has quite a few rooms. Her breakfast was delicious. My husband enjoyed all his Irish Breakfasts. She was very helpful in helping us plan our itinerary with regard to the weather. Although more in the countryside, it is a short drive to walk around the cute town, with the streets full of dining options. We picked this B&B from bandbireland.com given to us by our travel company. We enjoyed our stay and we highly recommend this B&B.

Mary and John were so welcoming and fun to talk to. The beds are more comfortable than our bed at home! The breakfast was plentiful and delicious. It’s a bit out of the way so finding somewhere for dinner, without going back in to Kilkenny, was a bit of a challenge but we ended up with some good local food. Thank you, Mary and John, your place is lovely.

Mary Fitzgerald was welcoming and helpful when we visited Kilkenny. A short drive into the countryside to a lovely setting. Her breakfast was delicious and her suggestion for dinner was perfect.
We would happily stay at the Oldtown Farmhoise any time!

Mary and John are the most welcoming of B&B owners. They have a beautiful home in the country not far from Kilkenny and near all of the local attractions - Nicholas Mosse, Chesneau, Jerpoint Abbey, Kells and much more.
All bedrooms are on the first floor, beautifully decorated and large. Showers are spacious with plenty of room. The large showers are powerful. On their property, they have a historic ringfort which Mary graciously show and explain to you. We stay with Mary and John every time we visit near the Kilkenny area. Cannot recommend this B&B highly enough

I recently stayed in the Oldtown Farmhouse B&B for one night. I arrived quite late as it was an unexpected trip. I was greeted by the owner Mary and immediately offered tea and gorgeous scones and a place in front of the fire. It was all so relaxed and welcoming.
My room was really lovely and absolutely spotless. It also had lots of little touches that really made life easy. There were plenty of towels in the bathroom, facecloths (washcloths), tissues, an alarm clock and a hairdryer. There was also a tea making kit (which I didn't need thanks to Mary, who made teafor me when I arrived!) The bed was really comfortable and the room was really relaxing and warm. The shower was strong and hot.
The breakfast in the morning was exactly what you'd want. A selection of cereals, loads of fruit, yoghurts, proper toast and John's gorgeous brown bread, and of course the usual full Irish.
I didn't get a chance to explore the gardens but from looking out my window they seemed really beautiful. I also saw the rest of the rooms on a tour with Mary and they were all lovely: comfortable and clean.
I needed to get into the village in the morning and John gave me a lift. The welcome here was so lovely and I could tell that having happy guests was important to Mary. I couldn't recommend this B&B more highly! Thanks for everything John and Mary.

From when we first arrived we did not feel very welcome. The hosts husband totally ignored us and the host didn't even know who we were. The accommodation was ver very basic, the heating and hot water was not on so our children had to have a cold shower. The breakfast was ok. If you are after a pillow to rest your head and nothing else then this place is alright but don't expect anything else.

By far the cleanest B&B we have ever stayed in. It sparkled. Mary and John were warm and wonderful hosts. We came in jet lagged, exhausted and left rested and excited for the remainder of our trip. Mary had good advice for us and is a lifetime local so knows the area well. Mary and her home are real Irish GEMS!

whenever we are near Kilkenny, we stay with Mary and John. Beautiful house and wonderful large bedroom with spacious ensuite bathrooms. The location is in a peaceful and lovely countryside. Mary is a gracious hostess, greeting you with tea. The breakfast is delicious and filling -getting you ready for the day.
Their home is in the country but close to Kilkenny and also Bennettsbridge, where Nicholas Mosse factory and sales shop is located. Also, close to Kells, which was the medieval capital of Kilkenny. We will be back again to visit with Mary and John

Mary was so amazing the two nights we stayed and it was not to far out of town! She showed us around her home and we had an awesome time staying with her! For sure the next trip to Ireland we will have to come back to Mary!
