Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Disappointing. This is my 5th visit. This was the worst. However, staff were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. One particular member needs some customer service training. I complained about the kitchen being closed at 8-40pm when on the the website it’s says clearly 9pm. The restaurant duty manager was less than helpful. The reception staff member ( Lisa) was very friendly, helpful & apologetic. I managed to get a main meal . I chose the easiest one so that it would cause the least hassle but I was refused starter and sweet which I had pre paid for. I was told the kitchen was closed. It was clear that the restaurant wanted to close and I was an inconvenience. The television was switched off. I felt out of my comfort zone. In the past staff have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome. I felt as though the manager was staring at me after I complained. Very disconcerting. I was reticent to complain to the receptionist however, she was more than helpful and told me to use my food voucher the next night & she wouldn’t charge me for that nights meal. I tried several times to get a drink to go with my meal having just got off the plane and rushed to get to the hotel and get fed and watered before I was too late. The next night the member of staff who was less than helpful the night before proceeded to inform me he had not charged me for my meal the night before and “he himself had sorted this”. Funny that? Cos Lisa had sorted it the previous night. The food generally was mediocre and uninteresting. The bedroom was tired and less than clean. The toilet was filthy and not cleaned. Lots of old dust everywhere.Very unwelcoming. I was reticent to complain because I was staying a few nights and already felt under scrutiny. There was too many people in the swimming pool some days and it was impossible to swim. Lots of screaming out of control children jumping in, and generally unsupervised. They were also in the restaurant at times too. Breakfast at 9:30 was very sparse nothing left in the cool cabinet, only apples, and yogurt and a small amount of fruit salad. No spoons in the cereals, no milk left. No fried eggs, no chefs around.Already the staff had started to dismantle breakfast facilities. Very unwelcoming and like the “Marie Celeste”. Disappointing visit, no atmosphere, tired restaurant , dusty rooms.

The Maldron is our Hotel of choice. We have stayed with them many times. It is ideally located for travel in the SE. The Staff are without exception superb.Their professional friendly approach makes your stay feel like Home from Home.A good varied menu, with daily specials, and a buffet breakfast that sets you up for the day.The rooms are clean and spacious, and the leasure center is ideal to relax in, with many facilities. We would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone, including families, that are looking for a relaxed location to unwind and enjoy SE Ireland.

I made a mistake with my booking and the receptionist was really helpful and flexible in allowing me to change it. The room was really spacious and clean. Though located at the side of a main road the view of rolling hills and trees was lovely and it was really peaceful. We had a great trip to Johnstown Castle and will definitely be back to visit other local attractions.

Had food there with the family, service was incredible and food very tasty. Service staff all very good with the kids, we were looked after very well and didn't leave disappointed. The pint of Guinness I had for dessert also deserves a mention, thoroughly enjoyed it. Will be back soon!
