One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. We stayed before and after a trip to a wedding in Upstate New York. The first room was very cold and certainly wasn’t clean plus there didn’t seem to be any staff to help with luggage but eventually the valet parking guy helped as there were steps from the pavement and no elevator in the building. When we returned after the wedding the room was warmer and cleaner but still no staff to offer help. The young staff were busy serving meals a very odd set up and certainly no service for residents. The owners are complacent as they have no competition in Winthrop so don’t need to provide a decent standard of se

Casey, the entire family that owns the Winthrop Arms and everyone that works there are amazing. This place really is like a home away from home. It is the "Cheers" of Winthrop. Truly. My sister and I stayed there for almost 4 weeks while our father was in the hospital and from the first night we arrived, we were made to feel like we were at home. Being able to stay at the Winthrop Arms during that period made all the difference. Every night, we returned back to the hotel, we were greeted with warm smiles as if we were part of the extended family and we ate the incredibly food. This is a truly a special, family-run hotel. I can't say enough positive things about the people, the food and the overall atmosphere.

The good- the bed was comfortable, water pressure nice, view of the water amazing, and parking. The not so good- dirty carpets, broken mismatched furniture, no shampoo/soap (but 3 conditioners), safety concerns- no deadbolt or peephole and someone tried to enter our room while we were getting ready the morning of departure. Also- skip the restaurant- over priced and the staff was not welcoming.

Reception was lacking to say least but it was room that really disappointed. Needed some TLC - blinds dirty and dusty- one actually broken so would not close fully. Hot tap leaked water when cold tap used. Towels poor and no bath mat provided. Only soap was pump at hand basin and no shower gel provided. TV didn’t work and promise of someone coming to sort it never happened. Pricier than other hotels in area and not good value for money.

We had a wonderful stay with a family including small children. It’s a beautiful hotel with parking right next to the water. The food was delicious and the hospitality was great! Definitely recommend! My only “heads up” would be that there is no elevator, but a member of the valet service helped us with our bags.

After the construction on the street and after the hotel has finished its maintenance inside would I stay here again. The lobby has a very attractive bar area before entering its restaurant. Very hard to get any information, I called and left a message and sent an email that was never answered?? The only time I ever saw anyone was at check in at 3:00. My room was very clean. My other family member staying there, had a space in-between the window and AC unit?? It has potential after they work out a few things.

This is such a nice little hotel in a beautiful neighborhood - I slept with my windows open and heard birds in the morning & had great views of the bay! The beds are comfy, the bathrooms are new and fresh, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and there was parking! Then you add in the fact it is so close to the airport (10 minutes drive) and has tons in walking distance like coffee shops & excellent restaurants. The best bonus is that the restaurant just downstairs had delicious food (I highly recommend the pot pie!) and yummy drinks. I can't say enough how impressed I was with the value and convenience. Bravo Winthrop Arms I will certainly be back!

I've stayed at The Winthrop Arms in the past. It's a reasonably priced, older hotel that's been revamped. There's nothing fancy about it, but it's close to the airport and also located in the town I grew up in, so it's a good place to stay when I want to go back to Winthrop for a visit. I usually try to reserve one of the few suites that has a separate sitting room with limited kitchen equipment. The room we rented had a mini-fridge but no microwave, so any leftovers we took home had to be eaten cold. Oddly, the bathroom was missing towel racks, even though there was ample wall space on which to mount them. We ended up leaving our used towels on the floor and getting new ones each day when the room was made up. In fact, there was no place to hang the toilet paper, so we had to leave the roll in a spot where it wouldn't get wet from the sink. There's a pretty decent restaurant on the first floor of the hotel that's only open for dinner (or catered lunches). You can hear the sounds of people talking downstairs, but that seems to subside by 10:00 pm or so, and we had no problem falling asleep. Our room had AC and a portable heater, and the bed was comfortable. Much of the day, there are no hotel staff on-site, but you can arrange in advance to pick up a room key from a lock box if you're going to arrive late. There is no elevator, so be prepared to carry your bags up a half flight to the front door and a whole flight to the second-floor guest rooms. Staff can help when they're around. The hotel maintains a small off-street parking lot a half block away, or they'll give you a pass to place in your windshield to allow overnight parking on the street. There aren't many hotel options in Winthrop besides airbnb's, many of which are rather expensive, so all-in-all, the Arms is a reasonable place to stay for 3 or 4 nights.…

We stayed here 1 night prior to our flight out of Boston. The hotel is in a fairly quiet location and parking is either on the street or in a small car park just down the road from the hotel. The "front desk" is in the bar area and also serves as the restaurant checking in point. All rooms are up a flight of stairs with no lift and (when we departed) nobody around to help with cases - there was a number to call if you really needed something but for some reason we had no phone signal so not much use in that case. Our room was very dated and desperately felt in need of some TLC. Carpet was old & worn, wallpaper was peeling and there were marks all over the walls. The TV kept going loud and then quiet for no apparent reason; the aircon was noisy and either on or off (there didn't seem to be any temperature setting option); curtains were literally hanging off the rail and there was no safe deposit box in the room. There was also noise late in the evening from whatever was below (the bar/restaurant/kitchen?). On the positive side it was a short walk to the seafront and to a very small selection of shops and cafe's. The food in the hotel restaurant was good but there was no breakfast option. This place is ok for a quick stopover on your way to/from the airport but I wouldn't stay here for very long.…

We stayed here just 1 night before flying out of our week long vacation. We arrived at 2:40 with check in scheduled at 3:00, no one was anywhere to be found. The front door that enters into the restaurant/ front desk was open and the lights were out. I called an after hours number that was posted on the door and a gentleman came down to check us in. It was very weird. Parking is limited to the street and a small parking area near the water. The views of the ocean are gorgeous and the beach is a short walk down. The rooms are dated but appear clean. The mattress is older and lumpy but we slept ok. This would be a great place to stay for a beach weekend during the summer. The restaurant was nice, service prompt and friendly, and the food was delicious! We had the pot pie and it was perfect for the cold autumn night!…
