We have stayed and eaten at the Inn perhaps a dozen times over the last several decades, most recently in September 2016. This is said to be the oldest continuously operating Inn/hotel in the US, dating from 1710. It is located on Oxford's strand, with views of the Tred Avon River and the Bay. Today, it has one of the...

Dear DAGTucson Thank you for choosing to stay at our ancient Inn. Robert Morris's home until 1800 when it became an Inn and an Inn ever since. The historic town of Oxford with its charming tree lined streets showcasing true period homes is a haven of tranquility in an otherwise crazy world. We are pleased you enjoyed it and look...

We recently spent 3 nights at the historic Robert Morris Inn in Oxford to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Their staff is friendly, helpful, efficient and courteous. The Inn is everything you would hope for in a well-preserved and maintained 300+ year-old Inn. Our historic room in the main Inn was well appointed, clean and comfortable. The Inn provides a detailed...

This was the second time we've stayed at the Inn. The first time we used a groupon but this time it was for my birthday and part of a surprise enjoy the eastern shore getaway! We love the history attached to the inn and therefore love the quirks that go with its 300 years! The location is just marvelous as...

Spent one Thursday weeknight at the Inn. I'll review the restaurant separately. When I made the reservation I selected a room in a small adjacent cottage that had two units. I wanted to avoid the steps in the main Inn and have a TV. The cottage where we stayed had two rooms and was across the parking lot from the...

Dear MikeBelAir_MD Thank you for your balanced review following your visit to our Inn and town. Both are iconic and historic which whilst being charming, unique and magical does also mean that sidewalks are ancient and winding and our vintage Inn has barely one straight edge. Delighted that overall you enjoyed your experience and we do hope that we can...

We just stayed at the Robert Morris in for our 35th Anniversary. We had stayed there 27 years ago. If you can afford it, stay in the cottage next door, called Bottle 1 or 2. Fantastic views of the sunsets and right across from the Oxford Bellevue Ferry. Room was clean and spacious. Two vanity/sinks makes it nice to be...

Dear Ken N Thank you for staying with us on such a special occasion, and delighted that overall you enjoyed your experience at the Inn. Nice place; had a glitch at check-in (the office staff leaves at 5, leaving late check-ins to deal with the restaurant staff, who are very nice--especially Abby--and used to checking-in guests), and they gave us an upgrade to a King size room. A couple of surprises; the halls on the second and third floor are not air-conditioned, and it gets...

Dear matman880 Delighted you had a great stay with us. We do put the AC on in rooms advance of guests arrival but as you were upgraded at the last minute, it had not been on. We were touring Oxford and needed to cool down. We stopped in for some beer which hit the spot. It was too hot to sit out. The bartender was attentive and my husband's joke caught her by surprise. He drank his beer fast and I commented with him saying he had a holes in his glass!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of Robert Morris who gained fame as "Financier of the Revolution". General and later President George Washington was a close friend and visited Robert Morris often. In more recent times author James Michener outlined his famous novel, Chesapeake here and fell in love with our renowned crab cakes. More history is located here. Now the Eastern Shore's most unique historic restaurant with rooms under celebrity Chef Proprietor, Mark Salter and Ian Fleming. Enter the Inn and step back 300 years: a pristine yet historic interior welcomes with timber beams, panelled walls and open fires in the cooler months. Through to Salter's Tavern featuring historic red brick walls and old slate floors, with magnificent fires in the cooler months and offering casual outside dining on our Terraces and Veranda during balmy warm summers. This is a truly historic Inn, cosy with a natural patina running through. Friendly, great cuisine and understated professional service. ... more   less
