This is an old historic Hotel. With that in mind, it's got it's quirks and failings, but at the same time, it's full of charm and eccentricity. I stayed there because of the history and it is located close to the Greater Allegheny Passage. It was a bit like my old 1800's house. These places are incredibly difficult and expensive...

Failinger's Hotel Gunther is a gem of a hotel. It is a piece of history, has very clean rooms and friendly staff. Room 307 is quiet and has nice views of the allegheny mountains. It is in a great location on Main Street and very close to the trail head for the Great allegheny passage bike trail. Also the Princess...

When you enter from the street you see this fabulous grand staircase. Beautifully restored. Rooms are average size, clean and comfortable. Several restaurants within walking distance. Parking...available in back of hotel, but no handicapped. So be prepared to walk a bit. When you enter in back, you come through a museum of memories which is quite interesting. There is also...

This is truly a throwback to the past. It is an old hotel with charm. The rooms are clean, with a comfortable bed, and modernized shower and the like. The rooms are small and parking off site and can be a bit of a walk. Breakfast is continental and includes donuts from a local bakery. This property has a museum...

I chose to stay at Failinger's over a chain hotel because I wanted to stay somewhere unusual. This hotel did not disappoint! From the museum and jail in the basement to the residents that live there full time (many of the rooms are actual apartments), this hotel was an adventure. It was clean and comfortable. They do provide a continental...

We stayed only one night here on our way to our final destination, but hope to return for a longer stay in the future for a quiet exploration of the beautiful parks and historic sites in this part of Maryland. The hotel staff were very personable, and our room was comfortable and clean - those are basic lodging requirements for...

We have been going to this hotel for over 20 years. Everything is very clean and well cared for. In the basement is an old, once-used jail, a coal mine replica and a fairly extensive museum of local memorabilia. Feel free to roam around for free. There is a free continental breakfast in the lobby, or you can go to...

I biked the GAP with 8 friends, we spent one night at Hotel Gunter. They provide a secure space in the basement for all the bikes. Rooms are nice, the common areas of the hotel are very historic and is basically a museum. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% return.

A nice Victorian hotel in the center of town. Lower rates than the local motels. No food, but that's just across the street. Has an elevator. A lot of the rooms have been converted into apartments. During the Christmas Season, the place is decorated in period. In the basement there is supposedly a coal mine, and a jail cell. Parking...

The facility is old, but well kept up. Per other reviews it is very quirky: jail cell in basement, memorabilia scattered throughout the building, shared balconies overlooking either the main street or the Allegheny mountains. It's all part of the place's charms. If you want cookie cutter, this is not the place. The persons manning the desk were uniformly friendly...
