We visited some friends living in Frostburg and chose to stay at the Gunter Hotel. Our stay was phenomenal. We will definitely come back and stay there again. The location is great, walking distance from many restaurants and shops. I heard that the new restaurant and bar open recently, so I will definitely be checking that out soon!

New owners were wonderful. Great place to stay with a lot of character and history. Right in the heart of downtown and convenient to everything. Can't wait to visit again when the restaurant is opened. Rooms were huge and very comfortable. Please reopen the original speakeasy, I'll even come up to wipe the coal dust from the bottles😉

While under renovation this is still a great place to stay. We had a room with double beds, on the small side but clean and neat. The bathroom was definitely small, but tidy. The place has charm to spare, and the knowledgeable owner knows all the nearby places with good eats. It is within walking distance of half a dozen...

Love this hotel. Stayed there last weekend. So very excited to meet the new owner and talk with him about the renovations he has planned. We have been staying there whenever we are in Frostburg (off and on for the last 21 years). James has some amazing plans to include opening a restaurant and a bar (in December 2016). He...

Beautiful, under renovation but the room was beautiful, comfortable and clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed two nights I wish it could have been longer. Definitely will be staying there again. It is an old hotel but it has character and charm that is unbelievable.

Stayed at the Gunter during a return trip from Philadelphia and staying at the center town Sheraton. The contrast was dramatic in comparing a soulless modern hotel with a unique classic from an old era. Frostburg is not Philadelphia, so the reason why one would stay at the Gunter is more aesthetic than big city practical. Remember, this is a...

Stayed here off the gap trail. Bit of a haul up from the trail, but probably our favorite town. Lots of activity, lots of choices. Be sure to include it. Room was comfortable, no complaints. Enjoyed the hotel and really enjoyed the town

I loved the place. The room was fine with a large bathroom. The lobby is elegant and there is a fine collection of photos and artifacts that give a history of the region. The staff is very friendly. It is just a few block from the bicycle trail. I hope to stay there again.

I was charmed by this old, eccentric hotel. It was refreshing to stay somewhere different. The building is much larger than it looks from the street, lots of nooks and crannies to explore. The location in the middle of downtown Frostburg was great, walking distance to restaurants and bars. Our room was large, with antique furnishings, kind of like staying...

My wife and I recently (Sept 2016) stayed at the Hotel Gunter on a trip to Indiana. Neither of us were disappointed in any respect. We stayed in room 307 which had gorgeous views of the mountains to the rear of the hotel, and was decorated with beautiful Victorian era furniture and antiques. There was a perfect balance of new...
