Just returned from our second stay and couldn't be happier :). The staff was welcoming and accomidating in our sleeping situation making sure we had two beds and a pullout couch for the littlest kiddo we even had the owner check in with us several times to make sure we were enjoying our stay couldn't be more helpful. Our boys spent the day in the heated pool and the convenice of walking to the shops, arcade, and beach right across the way cant be beat! Loved stopping in at The Bucket store down stairs for breakfast, lunch, ice cream or grabbing needed items they are always so friendly and the food is delicious. Overall great stay price point is affordable, location is perfect, and rooms are just right even for the family trips! Already planning a romantic getaway back with the hubby :)

How is the current price of this motel higher than the historic Union Bluff? This property is an old dingy motel that is listed on Tripadvisor as“luxury" condominiums. Since when is a motel that offers absolutely no amenities outside of standard room accommodations a luxury? The current rental information about the mediocre condominiums is misleading. There is no great comfort or anything extravagant about this motel. This is just a basic motel with ok views. Also indicated on Tripadvisor. NO REFUNDS. NO SHORTENING OF STAYS. NO CHANGING OF DATES WITHOUT MANAGEMENTS CONSENT. News flash luxury properties do not have a firm no refund policy! The policy speaks for itself! Along with this motel claiming to be a “luxury" property, poor/bad reviews on Tripadvisor are countered by condescending remarks from the owner. His response to guest concerns are cringe worthy and a complete invasion of guest privacy. In responding to concerns he has openly used the actual names of guests. Why does Trip Advisor allow him to violate guest confidentiality? York Beach Maine offers many beautiful properties at a much better price point!

Sands by the sea motel is by far one of the best motels for a family or friends weekend get away. I along with 5 other firends stayed in a suit above the bucket store which had amazing views of the beach and local shopping area right from the outside deck we spent alot of time enjoying the deck area. We walked the beach and all the local shopping centers right below us without a single worry for parking or distance. Amazing stores and restaurants just feet away! I would suggest visiting the Golenrod candy store for some great saltwater taffy you can watch made in the windows, or a trip down the road to the Nibble lighthouse which we also did, would have gone to the fun-o-rama arcade but it was closed for the season. The staff was 100% accomidating and pleasant our entire 3 day stay. Our room was clean, bright, and spacious with everything we could need for the long weekend and anything extra we needed could be found at the store right below us. Talk about the perfect spot to just hangout and be worry free we couldn't have asked for a better stay and want to make it something we do yearly there now :). We stayed on off season cant imagine how great it is when everything is in full swing during the summer!

My friend my daughter and I booked an overnight stay at this hotel. We arrived after 10 to an open room with the key on the dresser and the lights on. The office is closed from 10pm-9am. Parking was tight but we managed to get the last handicapped space. The room was dark and dingy. The bathroom had a good amount of mold on the ceiling probably because it lacks any kind of ventilation. The TV was small. Maybe 24 inches with 2 remotes and no instruction. After 15 minutes we figured out 1 turned on the TV and 1 changed the channel. The beds were ok. The bed skirt scared me. I figured I was better off not looking any further. In the morning I thought I dropped something. I asked my daughter to look under the bed And she found a blue sock under one bed and a marshmallow under the other neither which belonged to us. Totally grossed me out. This could be a top notch hotel. The location couldn’t be better though I’m not a huge fan of short sands beach. This place needs some serious TLC and renovating. But a little maid service would have gone a long way.

We booked Sands by the Sea for a short getaway to York Beach last minute because of the location and price. It is not a luxury hotel but it’s clean and well maintained, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. The pool and pool area is excellent. The location is great! Because we booked late they only had double rooms available but that was fine. There were a few very minor places where the room could use sprucing up but it was clean and more than satisfactory. The only negative was it didn’t have a coffee maker but we didn’t mention it so I don’t know if it was just missing or they don’t have them. We couldn’t get the TV to work when we got there and noticed that the phone wasn’t working but Paul came immediately and took care of them. We didn’t get one of the rooms with a kitchenette. There are at least a dozen restaurants within five minutes walk. However some are closed due to Covid or were not open every day. We ended up driving less than three miles to Stonewall Cafe for breakfast one day. See my separate review (5 stars). The Tulip was a good option and had excellent coffee. We enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.
