They have a lovely little tea room and a wonderful outdoor deck right on the water where you can take in the harbor views. We just had coffee, tea and ice cream. The drinks were fine, but the ice cream which is suppose to be handmade and kind of pricey was in a pre made frozen paper cup, like from...

We stayed at the inn last summer and loved it and the village's charm (as well as the Fisherman's Friend restaurant!) so we made sure to book early enough to get a bigger room. The only one available last summer had twin beds! We stayed in the Victory Chimes room this year, and it was gorgeous. King bed, fireplace, picture...

Rooms are a little on the pricey side for what you get but there is really no where else to stay except at Boyces and that is also below average. We go there once or twice a year to visit family in Deer Isle. I made an appointment but tried to cancel because I had to work that weekend. They...

This is basically like a clean spartan motel, but on a perfect setting. The inn is right on a beautiful harbor with lobster fishermen hard at work. Picturesque. The great common area deck gives you terrific views. And you're on the main street, within walking distance of the key Stonington places. But the hotel is not luxurious or charming. Rooms...

First the pro's: the inn hangs over the harbor on pillars, and has wonderful views of it. The town is tiny, as laid-back as you could ever desire and a wonderful place to observe the lobster-fishing activity and feel cut off from the world. Most of the rooms have a view, I believe, and all have access to a smlll...

We stayed for two nights in the American Eagle suite and absolutely loved it. The room was huge with 2 bedrooms, a good sized bathroom, a full kitchen and eating area and a large living room with a sectional couch. Best of all we had our own private balcony over the water with chaise lounges and a table with chairs...

My husband and I stayed here in October, right before the end of the season. The room was delightful, with a view of the harbor, so that we could see lobster fishing boats coming and going whenever we were in the room. The breakfast that came with the room was absolutely delicious. The Inn has a phenomenal baker, so that...

Hubby and I stayed here in late October of 2011, but I am just now writing a review of this lovely Inn. I grew up in Bar Harbor, Maine and now live out of the state, (still a New England girl though!) and a Maine girl at heart. I love the Maine coast. However, having grown up in Down East...

The Inn on the Harbor is not a 5-star hotel; what it is is a quaint, charming, clean and wonderful place to stay. You can't beat the view; the staff is a gracious and kind group of folks who go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you are looking for a place to go...

Generally acceptable stay. Exceptional views of the harbor, so one can easily overlook some of this property shortcomings - lack of privacy for the rooms overlooking the common deck, decent continental breakfast but clearly nothing to write home about (and why would there be an expresso machine that cannot be used during breakfast hours, when it is needed most?). Biggest...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPEN YEAR ROUND Known for its unique charm and spectacular view of the Penobscot Bay islands, the Inn on the Harbor on Deer Isle offers a perfect romantic waterfront retreat. Built in the 1880s and perched right on the edge of picturesque Stonington Harbor, this bed and breakfast captures the very essence of Maine's Downeast island life. Ten of the thirteen individually decorated guestrooms face the sea and enjoy gorgeous views of Isle au Haut, the Windjammers and the island's fishing fleet. Guests can relax on the spacious flower-covered deck extending out into the harbor and enjoy the tide rising and falling beneath the Inn. They can fall asleep to the sound of nearby Mark Island Light's foghorn and wake up to the lobstermen heading out to sea. Several of our rooms have wood burning fireplaces and/or private decks. Our accommodations are relaxed and comfortable, all with private baths and sitting areas. The coastal atmosphere, with fresh salt air and brilliant sunny skies, encourages many of our guests to simply put their feet up and relax while watching Stonington's bustling waterfront. This is Maine's Downeast island life at its best. ... more   less
