Inn on the Harbor is a small, comfortable inn on the waterfront in Stonington. It is great! The rooms are well furnished and exceptionally comfortable; the continental breakfast was just right. Waterfront rooms overlook the harbor from the Public Pier to one of the lobster co-op working piers. The inn also has a large waterfront deck for the land-facing rooms....

I think this is our fourth visit to the Inn on the Harbor. It's always a great place to visit ... so relaxing to sit and watch the harbor, we love it. Not much to do or see in "downtown" Stonington, but the Inn is in the perfect location to see it all!

My wife and I were on a three week car tour of Coastal Maine in April 2016. We had heard of the typical route jumping from Camden to Bar Harbor. Rather than Camden, we stayed in Rockport. Rather than Bar Harbor, we stayed in Southwest Harbor. But the hidden gem between the two was Stonington on Deer Isle. And the...

My wife and I were looking to get away for a night in March. It also happened to be my birthday. We chose Stonington on a whim, but couldn't have been more pleased with our decision. Coming from Portland, ME, we knew we wouldn't have the summer crowds or the traffic heading up route one. We chose this time to...

Weather wise, I picked a great weekend (first day of spring) to discover Stonington, ME. I was lucky enough to get the Heritage room at The Inn on The Harbor with its stunning views (even at night) huge bed, lovely fireplace and comfortable chairs to stare out the huge picture window (photo included) The Innkeeper was very hospitable when checking...

The inn has lovely staff who are friendly and helpful. The rooms at the back overlooking the harbour have stunning views and comfortable seating areas to look at the view. There is also a large communal deck and some private decks which are all great. Breakfast is a just cereal and toast but the coffee is really good. Each room...

My husband and I had a get away weekend and stayed here. Our room was adorable and clean. The rooms are very private and have the best ocean view. The hotel is build above the ocean so you can hear the water under you. The bed was so comfortable. We went in the dead of winter and can only imagine...

I had not been to Maine for over 40 years until last week when , with the wife's permission I went house hunting on Deer Isle, Maine. My Realtor recommended the Inn on the Harbor and I could have not had a more pleasant stay. It was so quiet in the town that I was the only guest at the...

My wife and I were lucky to find this relaxing seaside place to celebrate our 50th wedding. The village, Stonington, was not crowded with tourists. It was tranquil, but offered several art galleries, for artsy types like us. The location on Deer Island and Stonington harbor offered beautiful scenes to photograph. The inn was comfortable, with rooms that had large...

We've stayed at Inn on the Harbor several times and just love it. We prefer rooms that face the water, as we love to enjoy a glass of wine just enjoying the view and watching the lobstermen at work. Our favorite room so far is the Victory Chimes, but it wasn't available so we stayed in the Angelique. Still lovely,...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OPEN YEAR ROUND Known for its unique charm and spectacular view of the Penobscot Bay islands, the Inn on the Harbor on Deer Isle offers a perfect romantic waterfront retreat. Built in the 1880s and perched right on the edge of picturesque Stonington Harbor, this bed and breakfast captures the very essence of Maine's Downeast island life. Ten of the thirteen individually decorated guestrooms face the sea and enjoy gorgeous views of Isle au Haut, the Windjammers and the island's fishing fleet. Guests can relax on the spacious flower-covered deck extending out into the harbor and enjoy the tide rising and falling beneath the Inn. They can fall asleep to the sound of nearby Mark Island Light's foghorn and wake up to the lobstermen heading out to sea. Several of our rooms have wood burning fireplaces and/or private decks. Our accommodations are relaxed and comfortable, all with private baths and sitting areas. The coastal atmosphere, with fresh salt air and brilliant sunny skies, encourages many of our guests to simply put their feet up and relax while watching Stonington's bustling waterfront. This is Maine's Downeast island life at its best. ... more   less
