Poor service. Room left uncleaned even after housekeeping assured us it would be cleaned. Room refrigerator left anything we put in frozen solid. We expect more from the Westin brand. The hotel is also run down and could use a refresh and more modern look.

David, we understand your concern about housekeeping and the issues experienced with the in-room refrigerator, it's not the sort of impression we aim to create. We assure you that we continually strive to maintain our brand's usual high standard of service and your feedback has been useful. In terms of updating our aesthetic, we're always looking for ways to blend both traditional charm and contemporary elegance. We hope to show you improved service should you choose to return. I love the beds. They are the most comfortable beds of all the hotels I've probably ever stayed in. The front desk staff were good; quick and nice. The location is perfect for a show at State Street, dining downtown, going to the museum, etc. We parked the car and never used it while there. Valet parking is a waste. The parking garage is right next door and easy to get to. I won't bother with valet next time. The room had great blackout curtains, an AMAZING bed, and lotsa room. One weird thing is that we have (on our profile) that we like to be as far as possible from the elevator - the noise of people and the elevators can be a rude awakening so, why not be away from that? Maybe it's because that profile info isn't ported over from Marriott to Westin, but they put us right beside the elevator. One other bad experience was the upstairs bar. The view is spectacular but the ambiance is cold. The server was borderline rude when we entered about a half hour before closing time. In an effort to discover why their Champagne and Prosecco were at the same price, and that seemed a bit weird, their reply was, "No. it isn't." This server also went around to all the tables in our area telling people that they were about to clean the floor in that area and, no real hurry, but we may want to move. We just took our Champagne back to our room. This was my first time at this hotel, and I'd definitely stay again, but I'll not go to the bar near closing time and I'll specify to get placed away from the elevator.

Having stayed many times at various hotels in and around Portland, I have never visited this place. Decided to give this place a try and was somewhat pleased with the experience. OK, it’s an old building, almost 100 years old and has undergone many renovations over the years. However, I found that the place is well maintained and has everything you need. The room was comfortable and a good size. Comfy bed, rain shower, mini-fridge, and robes. However, the small windows are a letdown. Wish they were larger to capture the city and water views. Also, the furniture is a bit dated and worn. The rooms are due for an update. Overall, very clean. I am platinum Bonvoy…front desk staff were warm and friendly and went out of their way to accommodate an early check-in. Just wish they would have upgraded me from a standard room. Complimentary b-fast for my status was nice…good service and food was very good. Did not eat here for dinner…had a drink on the top floor to view the sunset…nice views but a bit pricey. However, only 1 person working the entire room. The place got full and he was overwhelmed…they finally sent up additional staff to assist. Great location in the center of town…I will stay here again.

Thanksgiving trip. Just enjoying Portland. After checking in (flawlessly) we went up to the bar/lounge the 15th floor. A wonderful view. Even better? Rasheed and Lenora working the bart. Such wonderful service and enjoyable conversation. Our first night in Portland, but we will definitely be getting more nightcaps and conversation with Rasheed. People make a place special. And this Westin has that.

Carl in security saved the day by helping me retrieve my car at 5:45 am in order to locate my lost cell phone. Valet wasn’t available. He was kind enough to step in and bring my car around before I had to catch the shuttle at 6 am. I am very thankful for his sense of urgency .THANK YOU CARL!

Stay somewhere else. This hotel is a mess. Stayed there in Mid October 2023. Although the shower was nice, the room was small and had peeling wallpaper. It is not in a great part of town. We had problems getting stuck in the parking garage because of not being checked in properly. The rooftop bar was so understaffed we waited 30 minutes to get a drink and had to take them to go because they came at 11pm closing. The worst part is we were double charged at check out and it took weeks to get “investigated” without proper resolution. There are plenty of other places to stay, I will never stay there again.

Stephanie, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. It's unfortunate to hear about the issues you encountered, such as the room conditions and challenges in the parking garage. We regret if your experience at the rooftop bar did not meet expectations and the billing discrepancy certainly should not have happened. Please know we're committed to improving our service and making things right for our guests. We understand there are many options in this city and respect your decision, but should you reconsider, we will strive to ensure a more enjoyable stay in the future. This hotel has a beautiful lobby and a well equipped and large fitness center. I found the bed and bedding comfortable and the staff was friendly enough. I had a harbor facing window on the 14th floor, cannot complain about that! I will say that the parking garage (for $33/night) was somewhat inconvenient, but was able to put my luggage in the valets’ locker for an easier departure experience. I used my “platinum reward” on breakfast for both of my mornings there and the food was great! The staff at the restaurant seemed disjointed with each other and the second morning there was no hostess and I think it threw off the waitresses. I was able to get food fairly fast despite all this. The first morning I called my order ahead in order to try for no wait, but to eat in the restaurant, but this was not received well. The host seemed upset about it when I mentioned it and it was like everyone was annoyed that they weren’t informed. I understand that’s not a normal request but also not that off the wall. I didn’t want to put anyone out, so I felt bad about that. On my checkout morning I tried to call for a luggage cart and no service phone number I called (I tried 3) was picked up. I do expect better service at Marriotts and Westins. I checked out the Top of the East bar on the top level, on a Friday night, it had a great environment. Seemed to be locals enjoying it as well, which is a good sign. I thought the drinks and just a draught beer were quite expensive, but I didn’t get the chance to see any other bars in Portland. Breakfast recommendation: the BLAT (bacon, lettuce, avocado, and tomato) toast. Served with a fried egg on sourdough toast with their great breakfast potatoes. This dish should be served on a larger plate so that people can eat it easier. I should have taken a picture. It was beautifully presented but not much room to slice the masterpiece as you certainly couldn’t pick it up. It was on a rather small rectangular plate that is raised on the edges so I feared I was going to push one edge down and lose the whole thing while I tried to dive in. I also had their eggs Benedict and it was good but nothing special. Thank you for a good stay!

Do not go here. Their menues are not accurate. They do not label allergies accurately. Frotn desk staff do not know about the facets of the hotel, and rooms are outdated. I have a nut allergy, beinets at restaurant are labeled as a blueberru compote, came out with a nut filling and raspberry compote. I am currently at the restaurant as of writing this having an allergic reaction to the unlabeled allergin issues. Staff at front desk told me to call the restaurant for room service, restaurant number on phone was nor answered. When we tried again and got a response they told us we should have a room service menue, that was not provided. When i was read the menu, it was only 5 items. Then when we did takeout from the redtaurent instead, no sauce or cutlery for fries and chicken tenders. When i askes the front staff about the spa deal we booked, they had 0 clue what it even was. They daid the spa handled it. Honestly I wouldn't clarssify this hotel as 5 stars. Given it is in Maine's biggesy city, stay at literally any other hotel and you will have a better experience. Oh and i requested a high floor room, was given third floor. Requested extra pillows, was given none. Wall paper in my room was peeling. Oh and this was for my anniversary, i feel scammed by this hotel. Do not rent a room here if it can be avoided.

Slightly outside of the neighborhood with all bars and restaurants, it is a quiet hotel with what seems to be a number of nice amenities but I did not get a chance to try any. Still walking distance from all the good bars and restaurants and near one of the rare in-town Starbucks. Rooms are a little dated but it is clean and comfortable.
