We stayed here on our very first visit to Ogunquit, and what a delight! The Inn is beautiful, our host was gracious and the breakfast was delicious. Many things are closed in Ogunquit this time of year but with the guidance of the Innkeeper we were able to enjoy the views from a local mountain, meander down the coast, and...

We've stayed at this inn before and decided to return this year for Christmas. Dwain was out of town and James is no longer with the inn but Claudine now works with Dwain and she's an amazing host. Her brunch, whether pancakes, frittata, waffles, or other items, was always outstanding and we didn't need more than a snack before dinner....

The Black Boar Inn is the best of both worlds. The main inn has the old-fashioned New England B&B charm that you'd expect. Each room has an adjoining on-suite. They also have a modern room attached to the Inn with it's own private addition as well as an outlying house that has a 1-BR, 1 BA room downstairs and a...

My husband, daughter, and myself spent Thanksgiving week at the Black Boar. It was our first time to Maine...what a place to spend it. Hospitality was great. Dwain and Claudine are the best! Everything was clean and comfortable. There was always a fire going to warm up after a cold walk on the beach or in town. The breakfasts were...

The Black Boar Inn was the coziest and most original bed and breakfast I've stayed at. Everything from the location, fireplace, delicious breakfast (with mimosas!) and to die for coffee, exceeded my expectations for the relatively cheap price! Would recommend for couples stay or with a group of friends!

I absolutely loved Black Boar Inn! The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming without being intrusive. The inn itself was cozy and homey! I loved my room and the food was to die for! By far the best part of my stay was hanging out in the sitting room in front of the roaring fire. I will definitely be visiting...

The Black Boar Inn is a fabulous place to stay if you are coming to the SE Maine region. The hosts are wonderful. Breakfast is unsurpassed! Roaring fire in the front room every evening. Great for walking to the Marginal Way (which we did every morning to work off our breakfast) and Ogunquit Beach. We are already planning our next...

I have been to this Inn for a quilters retreat four years in a row. The hosts are warm and friendly, the rooms are quaint and homey, and the food is extraordinary! It's easy to walk to anything in downtown Ogunquit. A perfect place to stay if you want a B and B feel. I will return again and again.

My daughter and I were there for a quilting retreat. Stayed there from Wed. thru Sunday. We were treated royally. Great food, relaxed atmosphere and super staff. Loved the cold weather but quite an adjustment from south Louisiana weather. A little disappointed that it rained on the coastal daily trips. Oh, what a wonderful place to stay. A must treat...

We stayed at the Black Boar for one night last week during our road trip up the Maine coast. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1674, with a major addition in 1720, The Black Boar Inn is the oldest structure in the Town of Ogunquit and one of the oldest wooden structures in the United States. BBI is located in the heart of the vibrant Village and only a three minute walk to one of the top rated beaches in America. The Inn offers six large bedrooms with queen beds and private en suite bathrooms with modern amenities. The Inn's common rooms (each with fireplace) offers guests with casual places to relax with family and friends. The Inn's history is truly remarkable. King James II of England (14 October 1633 - 16 September 1701) granted a plot of land in what is present day Ogunquit, Maine, to Alexandre Maxwell at some point in the mid-1600s. The Maxwell family built a home on this multi-acre plot in 1674 and lived there for about 100 years. In the mid-1700s, the home became the property of the Littlefield Family (another founding family of Wells/Ogunquit) through marriage to a Maxwell family member. Eddie Littlefield retained ownership until 1997. As the first two families cherished the property and remained ownership each for more than a century, The Black Boar Inn is now owned by only the third family in the structure's 341 year history. This Legacy Property is a truly authentic guest experience and remains a favorite choice of travellers from all parts of the world. ... more   less
