The Black Boar Inn is a fabulous place to stay if you are coming to the SE Maine region. The hosts are wonderful. Breakfast is unsurpassed! Roaring fire in the front room every evening. Great for walking to the Marginal Way (which we did every morning to work off our breakfast) and Ogunquit Beach. We are already planning our next... More

I have been to this Inn for a quilters retreat four years in a row. The hosts are warm and friendly, the rooms are quaint and homey, and the food is extraordinary! It's easy to walk to anything in downtown Ogunquit. A perfect place to stay if you want a B and B feel. I will return again and again.

My daughter and I were there for a quilting retreat. Stayed there from Wed. thru Sunday. We were treated royally. Great food, relaxed atmosphere and super staff. Loved the cold weather but quite an adjustment from south Louisiana weather. A little disappointed that it rained on the coastal daily trips. Oh, what a wonderful place to stay. A must treat... We stayed at the Black Boar for one night last week during our road trip up the Maine coast. This is a quaint old inn with a very pleasant sitting room, and we found Claudine to be a gracious and accommodating innkeeper. Breakfast was one of the most delicious and creative of all of the meals we had during our... More

We traveled from Pennsylvania and were to stay in Ogunquit for a week in October. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Black Boar Inn. It is a quaint Old Bed and Breakfast with the most wonderful people serving your needs. We kicked back and relaxed in the living area, even enjoying a fire in the fireplace in... More

Stayed at the black boar in for a second time and still loved it. It is a olde worlde type of place that transports you back to whenever...... if you prefer modern, slick, bright boutique style this may not suit you. Breakfast ( ordered the evening before) was probably the best on my entire 18 day trip!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights in mid-September 2016. This turned out to be a big mistake. We booked it partly because of the generally reasonable ratings that it gets on this website. Having re-read some of them subsequently, I can only say that the reality they describe was not our experience at all. The welcome that... More

We stayed in Waynes Room in late September for our 11th anniversary. Very comfortable room. We enjoyed the Inn very much. Breakfast was delicious, and it's fun to chat with the owners and guests over coffee. Mornings we would sit on the front porch with coffee before breakfast, or in the evening to just relax after a great day of... More

We stayed here for two nights during our road trip through New England. This was the perfect location in Ogunquit. It's within walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops and things to do in the town. Great breakfasts both mornings and wonderful hospitality by the owner and staff. Would love to stay here again!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Built in 1674, with a major addition in 1720, The Black Boar Inn is the oldest structure in the Town of Ogunquit and one of the oldest wooden structures in the United States. BBI is located in the heart of the vibrant Village and only a three minute walk to one of the top rated beaches in America. The Inn offers six large bedrooms with queen beds and private en suite bathrooms with modern amenities. The Inn's common rooms (each with fireplace) offers guests with casual places to relax with family and friends. The Inn's history is truly remarkable. King James II of England (14 October 1633 - 16 September 1701) granted a plot of land in what is present day Ogunquit, Maine, to Alexandre Maxwell at some point in the mid-1600s. The Maxwell family built a home on this multi-acre plot in 1674 and lived there for about 100 years. In the mid-1700s, the home became the property of the Littlefield Family (another founding family of Wells/Ogunquit) through marriage to a Maxwell family member. Eddie Littlefield retained ownership until 1997. As the first two families cherished the property and remained ownership each for more than a century, The Black Boar Inn is now owned by only the third family in the structure's 341 year history. This Legacy Property is a truly authentic guest experience and remains a favorite choice of travellers from all parts of the world. ... more   less
