We did not expect the hotel rooms to be so much spacious and it gives the comfort and ambience of cottages. The lawn in front of rooms and ocean view just across the road is mesmerizing. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Would recommend this hotel whenever visiting Acadia National Park, Maine.

We stayed here for 5 days in June 2015 and absolutely loved it. If you are looking for ultra modern, ultra chic this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a nice cabin on the coast of Maine with lovely people, gorgeous views and near to Acadia, then this is the place to stay. I would...

This place describes itself as providing "ultra-modern facilities and comfortable accommodations." Nothing could be further from the truth! We stayed in a duplex cabin that allowed our dog. While that was a plus, it was about the only one. The room was out-dated and in need of an extensive cleaning. There was black mold on our shower curtain, several large...

We got a call that a friend had died so we had to travel to Bar Harbor to make funeral arrangements. We called a place where we often stay and they were already booked. They suggested The Colony. Although we have been past many times, we never really noticed it. There are white cabins in two rows with adequate parking...

Just a generic room. Room had a nice view and was priced fairly for the area. Had a double bed and a twin. Nice restaurant with a beautiful view of the bay across the street. Owners were very helpful and pleasant. Very close to the entrance of Acadia National Park.

Cottages were quaint and had all the amenities one would expect. Bed was a little uncomfortable. Stay was great otherwise. Front desk staff were very helpful and pool was relaxing. Stay away from rooms on end. Too loud with traffic. Try to get one farther in.

We stayed here for a night on a whim while touring New England, mostly due to it's location right on the bay. The manager was quite pleasant and pretty up from about the rooms being "rustic". They really are a throwback to places I stayed in the 60's and 70's but everything was quite functional. The attraction though is they...

Older facility but clean and comfortable. Good location. We discovered that we had forgotten an item in our room after we got home. I called and requested the clerk send it to us at our expense. He said he'd get back to me. He never called me back. My many calls went unanswered until the owner picked up and told...

A Huge Disappointment My husband and I stayed in a cottage at The Colony several years ago. We loved the quaintness and the used but elegant Victorian furniture. The owners obviously cared deeply about their property. Fast forward to 2014. Our recent experience can be summed up by looking at my photo of the tattered American flag hanging at the...

I love The Colony. It is the first cabin we have ever rented and it was wonderful. The Colony has it's own private beach and is about 2 miles before Arcadia National Park, and perhaps 10 minutes tops from downtown Bar Harbor. This is a really large place and has 18 single cabins, 13 duplex cabins, and ten or so...
