If Route 66 is the "Mother Road", Route 1 is pushing for the title. Route 1 runs 2400 miles from Key West, Florida along the eastern coast to Fort Kent at the Canadian border in Maine. This road allowed people to tour better than ever before. This motel was built in 1955 to accommodate these tourists. We found this motel...

Amazing little gem on our way to Acadia National Park. The owners are so friendly and have so much local information and recommendations to share. The breakfasts were delicious (best home made blueberry muffins I've ever tasted), the rooms rustic and full of character - but are clean. We spent two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Brian and...

Operated by a charming, interesting and very hospitable couple. Have stayed there several times and have always been welcomed heartily and well cared for. Continental breakfast is fine. A well-maintained 50s and 60s style motel.

It was a little pricey, but the room was clean and it fit our needs perfectly. The owners were very sweet. We'll probably be back again, and we recommend the place whole-heartedly. It's a true Mom-and-Pop place and we need to support businesses such as the Twilite.

I had to be in Ellsworth for a business trip during the summer and booked the Twilite because of other reviews. The motel is older but they keep it really clean (which to me is important). I don't eat breakfast but the coffee was excellent. I definitely will stay there next time that I am in town

Didn't expect much after reading reviews but having made last minute plans to visit the area, I had no choice. Reading that it was "clean" was utmost important. When we arrived we met the owner who was very pleasant and informative. That day it had poured and when we walked in the room, it had an odor which I attributed...

Very sorry that you did not have a good stay with us. However sewage backups are a fact of life. They become more frequent as people flush wet-wipes down the toilets even though we put signs in the rooms to ask our guests not to do so. We did our best to accommodate the guest by offering another room and...

Came from Michigan to visit Acadia National Park and spent the night here. This place is special. It appears that Chuck and Ariela Zucker moved up from Connecticut, bought a classic old roadside motel, and determined to squeeze the absolute best out of it. It is simple but elegant. Has as many amenities as can be crammed into such a...

My husband and I loved this little motel. The management was friendly and helpful with tidbits of information to make our stay in the area extra nice. The room was such a nice change from the cookie cutter chain hotels, I loved the beamed ceilings! The room was comfortable and very clean. Being just outside of town, it was quiet...

My wife and I recently spent five nights at the Twilite. As per the reviews we had read prior to booking, it is a Mom & Pop motel. Our room was both large and clean. A little dated, but comfortable. The owner, Chuck, was very personable and was helpful as far as suggesting things to do, restaurants, etc. We really...

We have stayed here two times previous to this stay and were satisfied both times. The problem that we encountered was the smell of mold and mildew. My wife is very allergic to this smell and it made her terribly sick. In fairness to Twilite it had been raining all day and was still raining when we checked in. The...

We thought that since you stayed here before (twice ) and were pleased (you came back) you know that this is an older motel with a lot of wood. Many people find this charming but those with allergies at times, especially after two rainy days, are having issues. We explain that to new guests but since you have been here before,...
