We stayed in a lake view room on a gloriously sunny day and it was really lovely. The room itself was fine, nothing fancy but clean and big bathroom, big tv and coffee pod machine. The room was cold on arrival but the heater was efficient. The meal in the restaurant was ok, not great. we were the 'pain in...

A quick stay well removed from the everyday. I stayed in the Tim Shea wing and found it rather quaint, a basic room and bathroom with good heating and a very comfy bed. If you need a TV this room is not for you but if you just enjoy the quiet then this room will be good. The staff were...

We stayed at the Lodge from the Friday to Sunday, flew down to Hobart from Sydney (2hrs) hired a car and had an amazing 2hr drive through the changing scenery. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We went for the budget room but its exactly what we expected, the rooms were basic but clean with very comfortable beds and...

Very friendly staff in this basic, wilderness resort. Rooms are clean, good bed and plenty of space. Would be handy to have a chair and table in room, but lounge with open fire and heating was very welcoming. View from restaurant was amazing, and menu was quite ample. TV reception is great covering many channels. The drive there was definitely...

This hotel is situated on the shore of lake Pedder, it is comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was a Pedder view room which was nice and roomy with a good size bathroom, the only problem was the entrance door which shook every time a door was opened nearby so I used a piece of...

If you look for a peaceful haven and be close to the nature and your loved ones, this is the right place to be. For abdicted smart phone users, wifi through satellite is available. Fantastic view on the lake and close to many breathless lookouts. Kudo to Simon and his team. A friendly hospitality ready to help and anticipate any...

We took up the offer for a two nights for one deal. This Included the wonderful Jed Appleton performing in the bar on Saturday night. We had never been out here before and arrived quite late on a rainy Friday night. We were greeted with the happy and a no hassle attitude that we were to experience all weekend. We...

Lovely destination for a short break - only just over 2 hours drive from Hobart. On a still day, the scenery is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable & priced accordingly. Dinner in the restaurant is excellent - a small menu but of equal standard to any of the better restaurants in Tasmania. There is...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Pedder Wilderness Lodge is located right in the heart of Tasmania's Southwest National Park which is part of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. Recognised as one of the world's extraordinary natural wonders by the World Heritage Commission, it is to be protected forever from human intervention. One tree, which now sits out the front of the Lodge, was cut down in the 1970's before this protection was in place. The great Huon pine, which is about the width of a car, has its rings marked all the way back to the birth of Christ. Our surrounds, from which this great Huon came, boast everything from ancient awe-inspiring landscapes with boulders from the Jurassic period, striking mountains and lush sub-alpine rainforests with monolithic trees which range from centuries to thousands of years old, all the way to the modern man-made Gordon Dam which offers one of the world's top ten adrenaline activities. With accommodation for all types of travellers, Pedder Wilderness Lodge offers a relaxing and warm environment with a focus on fine Tasmanian food, wines and produce. With sweeping views of Lake Pedder and Twelvetrees Range you could not find a more perfect place to escape, explore, relax and enjoy our hospitality. ... more   less
