This was the most unique experience out of five hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. Super friendly. Family-style eating. Rooms decent. No hot water but the experience makes-up for it. It's not a five-star experience. Just expect a relaxed, hillside place to chill-out. Staff was great. Food was home-cooked and delicious. Very authentic. There was a big spider in...

We booked this bed and breakfast to stay after a long day of travel before moving on to La Fortuna. While difficult to find, especially by GPS, arriving was a relief! It was very quaint and personal. Several rooms surround a courtyard with ambient lighting, a parrot, 2 sweet dogs and hammocks. Family style long dinner table with other tourists...

Firstly ...Erick the manager is one of the most helpful, friendly hard working guys I have ever come across. Nothing is too much and we must say a huge gracias to Erick for making our stay so special. The room itself (no 4) was a little small with low ceilings - a bit disconcerting as I'm 6ft 5 and the...

It's a great idea to turn shipping containers into guest houses and definitely an experience. Although the space inside is limited, they made the best out of it and the exterior is a splash of color in the surroundings. Clean rooms, good breakfast in good company (you meet other guests and share your experiences while eating) and a talking parrot....

We stayed at the house in the pink room. Every room has another colour, there are hemmecks, a parrot and two dogs. There is a bohemian feel to to the place in general. Direct contact with other guests if you are open to it, good breakfast/dinner and even lunchboxes if desired. If you are a luxurious type it might not...

I first found this B&B in the Lonely Planet Guide. But TripAdvisor reviews and photos convinced me it would be the place for my friends, for our trip to Rincon de la Vieja National Park. Overall, I found it charming and comfortable — exactly as advertised — with the added bonus of a very friendly Bouvier (dog)! The first night...

This place is great. The design is super original and eco-friendly. The owner is awesome and welcoming. It is off the beaten road and definitely worth the 30 minute bus ride out there. You wont regret it.

My husband and I stayed here for our first two nights in Costa Rica and we immediately fell in love! The place is a rustic B&B with adorable rooms, a beautiful pond pool, hammocks, pets and a long table where all guests eat breakfast and dinner (if you pay the $19) together. If you want to stay at a resort...

So here's the deal...I get it. Or at least I can connect the following dots: Some people travel in the hope and expectation that everywhere they go will be Just. Like. Home. Sigh. I know I bring the Republic, I mean state, of Texas into most everything I write, and here I go again. In Texas, we get a lot...

I am surprised by some of the negative reviews because I am not sure what is expected for this very reasonable price. My husband & I were comfortable in Room #2. It is directly on the patio & there is some noise. We heard the parrot early but that was part of the charm. This is not a 5* resort...
