Giving this great review based on the wonderful breakfast buffet. Very reasonable ($8.95) and the best we experienced on our 2-week journey, even with places that were much more expensive. Real eggs, excellent grits!

That could have been us...there was someone ahead of us that was having the same problem. The whole situation was very frustrating. The manager said they were overbooked by 30 rooms at one point that morning. How does that even happen? I guess that's my biggest issue...if it sounded like they were sorting out the problem and making sure it never happened again I would feel a whole lot better, but everything I've gotten out of the manager is that they're happy with their response, the situation was not their issue, and we should call them directly next time rather than going through the Wyndham booking site. He doesn't understand that even if the issue was beyond his control, they are a Wyndham hotel so to the consumer they represent the chain. If there is a problem in the system it's their responsibility to get it straightened out.

No, at least not in my opinion. Note that I am now a visitor having left the area after being born and raised just a few miles North of the city and as a teen, spending many weekends and evenings in the city limits running around and about.
We made our semi-annual trek to Shreveport just a few months ago and stayed at the location you mentioned as it is now our first choice whenever we return to the area on business or pleasure.
Of course you must know that you are not close enough to walk to the gaming "boats" so I assume you are driving. No problems as the location is rather central really.
You will enjoy the Wyndham especially if you upgrade to the Exc. level for just a pentence higher cost. That entire floor is access restricted, quite, refined, and well worth the modest additional fee.
We have never been concerned about personal safety when out and about in Shreveport but yes, there are sections that are rather seedy and perhaps unsafe at night. Just stay away from those sections as you would when traveling in any large U.S. city these days and all will be well. Just be reasonable and alert and you are safe in most any city. Heck, even Chicago has areas where I would venture in the evening but many I would not go even with a police escort.
